Figuring with that much Beer , we could supply a large gathering ...or one drunken Cajun ... The Bear might not like rowdy crowds... unless some fool has fed them Beer previously ... Nothing worse than a Bear with a habit eh ...

Back on topic, did you use full strength or diluted?

Wolf , diluted mine to attach the canvas, Not quite 50/50 ... more glue than water... Then I went over the edges again with more of the same ... you can see in the pics how yellow the edges were.. that's the extra glue ... before I primed it I went over the seams with the household iron (no , not "Her's" ) .. The heat really smoothed the edges quite a bit ... Not really necessary , but it does work ... I was just trying to make mine as nice as I could , cause' I knew everybody would be watching ... Did NOT use the T2 over the canvas as a sealer , used Kilz (WB) for that , and only one coat ... next time I'll use two coats as the primer really smooths things out ... Had I used another coat , I could have obliterated the canvas texture... Had I the energy to sand it (block sand) I could have made it even smoother... Too HOT , Too OLD for all that ...

I still wonder if the Kilz alcohol based would work ??? Alcohol doesn't melt the foam ... and I think that stuff sands a little better...

Wolf , looks like we need a Master List of who's doing what ... Looks like there are several builds underway ... Maybe Eagle would know how to do that ???

i wasn't speechless, i just wasn't home. decided to take a walk along the beach. a perfect day for that.

i should have been working on the tear, but the walk was calling me.

i want to put in sliding doors in my, so how should i go about that? before you ask, yes please, pics would be nice. i would like to figure something out that i can rig up, instead of buying.

and i would hate to meet that bare drunk bear! he just might be a mean drunk.

i could put together something in a thread with all the links to our builds. how would that be? i will work on that tomorrow.

Walk on a cool beach sounds ideal about now !!!

Sliding doors ??? on what ??? Making them slide is easy ... cutting the slots is tough (not really ) Hubby have a table saw with a Dado blade... ? Could use Aluminum channels , but you'd have to buy those ...

A List of builds would be nice so we could all weigh in and keep others apprised of their progress ... Nothing fancy , just a place to check in ...

Kiddies out of school yet? ... good summer project would be teach them to build Foamies ... better than video games ... My Dad and I used to build things in the summers... learned some good skills for Later on ... Dad's 88 now ... doesn't build much any more ...

on the "bunk bed" top i want to put sliding doors to the front inside the tear. that bunk bed area is going to be inside storage. clothes, towels, that sort of thing.

i want to build a wall to close off the back when the hatch is open. i might not use the whole flat top space, might keep some of it for the galley stuff.

maybe the easiest thing to do would be just buy a hinge.

actually it does help! very much so. i could just route out the tracks in a foam piece. then just use the foam panels as the doors. i told you i am a visual ole gal. that would work!

now if only i could find a bit. i have found the routers, but not any bits.

It may be better to use wood for the bases... You'll need one for the top and the bottom... Beeswax (or a crayon ) in the grooves helps with the sliding ...
Routers are pretty useless without a bit ... they are expensive too ... And then you need to make/use some type of guide to ensure straight cuts ... You could make the bases by gluing up strips , but you'd still need to cut them accurately ... Tool Time !!!

Make the groves in the top twice as deep as the bottom. and the panel the size of the opening + the depth of the bottom groves. Well maybe a tiny bit less just to be sure they work. But I bet you already figured this out.



I have some 1/2 inch foam that would make nice doors.
