Any cigarette smokers out there?

Postby markingold » Wed Jun 22, 2011 5:39 pm

I love to take any oppertunity to share the good news about vaping (e-cigs). I was a heavy smoker for several years, but for the last 15 months I have been using electronic cigarettes. I would love to share my experiences and opinions with anyone interested in quitting those nasty ol' things.

**I do not sell e-cigs or stand to gain anything from the sale of them.** Just the satisfaction possibly saving someones life the way someone was kind enough to help me save my own.

I'm a wealth of information on the subject, and it would be my honor to give back to this forum. I know I'm going to have a lot of seemingly newbie questions about teardrops in the upcoming months, and I would like to share any knowledge I have on other areas in exchange!

Nope, sorry, I quit a few years ago and bought a teardrop with the money that I saved. 8)

I quit about 30 years ago and used the money I saved to..well, I'm still poor.

There isn't a morning that goes by that I couldn't use a smokey treat.

I quit smoking in february 1994. I use to smoke 2 1/2 packs of marlboros a day. It only took me a thousand attempts at quitting but I finally did it. The bottom line is if you want to quit, just keep trying.

At my worst I was up to 5 packs a day. I'd wake up at least once in the night and have a few smokes and go back to sleep. Only ate at ''smoker friendly'' establishments... Then I got in to chewing tobaco, since I cound keep a dip in at work, then smoke on my breaks. I put cigarettes down last year and never missed them. Quitting chewing tobaco is an ongoing battle.

I quit at 2 to 3 packs a day using the patch. I did it on my first try. I absolutely do not dare have another ciggy as much as I would love one somedays because quitting will likely never again be that easy.
That was about 10 years ago and I still look for my lighter in my pocket and miss that zippo clink of it opening and closing. I cannot convince my wife to quit even as we watch her mother die from it, a slow painful death, cant get no air, sit on oxygen, smoking :x .. I promise myself I will never go down that road...

I was going to call my camper cough drop. A friend and his wife used one and he said it worked.

My cousin swears by his e-cig. I tried it, and couldn't make it work for me so after $400.00 worth of chantix I've been smoke free for about 8 weeks now.

Just curious, how long where you on the Chantix? I had a buddy who started it to quit chewing tobacco, and it was working till he broke his leg and had to stop taking it cause of the pain pills.

I'm 2 1/2 years alcohol and tobacco free. I had to quit both to kick the tobacco habit because they were closely linked for me. I used Chantix for three months...but it was still really tough. At this point...I can say I really don't miss either... but I'm not likely to chance a drink or a smoke.

As a side note...being able to quit taught me a bit about myself, my inner strength and self discipline. Keeping with the self improvement theme, this spring I worked on diet and exercise to lose 20 lbs I picked up over time. I simply feel 15 years younger...my blood pressure, pulse, and cholesterol are vastly all improved...and my outlook on life is really positive!

I really didn't consider E-cigs as a way to help me quit...but if they work for folks...Great!

Chantix will be a three month process for me. The script calls for two pills a day, but after about three weeks, I take only one in the morning, so I will get about three and a half months out of my two one month boxes. Doc said that was ok as long as it was working for me.

I haven't started gaining weight yet, but am intentionally trying to be more active, and I'm pounding down water like I enjoy it.
