BIG Sales on Kingsford Charcoal...

Postby caseydog » Thu Jun 30, 2011 4:43 pm

I know a lot of you cook out, even when you are not camping. Here are some 4th of July Kingsford Original Charcoal deals you don't want to mis...

Home Depot: Twin Packs of 20-pound bags for $7.97.

WalMart: Twin packs of 16-pound bags for $7.48.

That is less than half the average price. :o

No limits on how many you can buy, but the prices only last as long as the supplies last. Serious BBQ guys like me are buying in bulk, so don't wait.

I wish lump was that cheap. The Sam's lump is, but it makes food taste funny. I tried it one time... once that's all it took to never buy it again no matter how cheap.

Kingsford is pretty good, I still use it for my DO.

I do more smoking than grilling, so I picked on charcoal out, and only use that. Switching brands and types means I have to adjust my game plan too much.

Lump is even more unpredictable for a long smoke. Although, you can't beat lump for a high heat grilling of a prime piece of ribeye. Yum.

For smoking, I use Kingsford blue bag and my wood chunks, because I know it. No guessing.

Yep, I primarily smoke also. Ceramic cookers take a lot of the unpredictability out of it. The digital controller takes out the rest. I've had ambient temperature swings as much as 60 degrees during a cook. The insulating ceramic and controller keep it dead on. I just light the fire, set the temp, put the meat on, and go to bed.

Lump is preferred because it doesn't make as much ash.

If you can afford a ceramic (an egg, I gather), you don't need to buy charcoal on sale.

I have a temp controller on my lowly WSM. It works great.

BTW, if you are not a member yet, you should join the BBQ Brethren forum. Lot's of egg users on there, and people ranging from competitive cooks to backyard cooks, like me.

I don't have kids, so my grills and smokers are my dependents.
