Online photo storage

I have so many digital photos. They are all over the place. On CD/DVD's and many are on the computer. Plus I have a back up hard drive. I also have 20 SD/CF cards that I just don't want to Delete for fear something could happen to my back ups. I use Photo Bucket for my web photos. But they get resized for posting. Where are you storing your full size images that is easy to use and does not have a fee attached. Or am I making a mistake by not using a paid storage site? I have looked at Shutterfly and Snapfish. Are there any others and what do you look for in a storage site?

I believe in redundancy. I have an external hard drive with all my photos, plus they are on my main computer, plus they are on my backup (old) computer. If my house burns down, I'm screwed, but other than that, the odds of three systems failing all at once are pretty unlikely.

I use dropbox for files that I want to share, but I am under the 2 gig limit so it is free. I have over 40 gig of photos, and that doesn't even count my videos which are probably only a few more gig. 50 gig is $9.99 a month on dropbox.

A 250gig external hard drive can be had for $50.00. For less than one years subscription, you can have two backup hard drives, and keep one off site in case of catastrophic failure.

BTW it's not hard to set them up to backup automatically on a regular basis, I use one at work to back up a document server on a weekly basis, everything is automatic.

I use Photobucket for the pictures I want to share online. Otherwise, like Paul, I have all my pictures backed up on 2 separate external hard drives other than the one on this computer. I keep one at work and one at home.
If my clinic AND home burn down at the same time, I'm screwed

Shutterfly is free also. They claim to store all pictures at what ever size you shot. Plus they allow some editing and albums for easy use. Anyone used them for a while to have an opinion?

I use a file server with freenas to copy all my photos to. On a regular basis I back up the fileserver to an external USB harddrive. Last, but not least, once a year, January 1st, I make a DVD of the previous years photos. Those could be kept offsite.

I have three or four copies at home. What I did for off site is buy a hard drive and I back-up to it then have my wife put it in her desk at work.

i just keep buying new memory sticks. once full i stash it away. never delete the memory stick.
