My neighbor called and North Little Rock set an all time high at 114.
Been in Santa Monica for 17 days and it has gotten into the low 80's only 3 days.

Heat wouldn't cause a tank to explode. But as a Fireman, I sure feel for the guys and gals that responded. The turn-outs we wear get HOT!

Sorry about losing the people and the property :(

Chris,2 guys were filling small tanks, one worker said he heard a whoosh! then she lit.they say they might never know what went wrong,it wasn't that the big tanks exploded but the intense heat and not being able to get in and put the structures out that caused the damage.I'm not quite a mile away and could here the small tanks exploding.I'm sure they were like little fire rockets.Yes I felt bad for the fire fighters ,were a small town, alot of them are my friends and family. It was so hot they had to raise the hoods on the emergency vehicles to cool them.

I think we are looking at this extreme heat for at least another month or even through Sept. There are not even any grasshoppers this year and almost no mosquitoes. This is great, except there is nothing for the birds and the bats to eat. I've totally let the lawn go and am just focusing on keeping the trees alive. We are now in the most extreme drought year since weather records have been kept.

However, some of my plants (esperanza, some roses, fig tree, small pomegranate, mulberry, small oaks) seem to totally thrive in the heat as long as they have adequate moisture.

Slow, hitch up the tear drop and head out to camp and fish, and see if there are friends out there that you just haven't met yet.
