Things that don't fit anywhere else...

Big bummer for me!

Postby asianflava » Fri Aug 05, 2011 2:08 am

Someone on another forum was asking how to run the air conditioner lines in their car. They had swapped the engine and the lines were too close to the exhaust manifold. I went outside and took a picture of my engine bay because I had the same car with the same engine swap. That's the last time I saw the car.

I was leaving for a Dr appointment the following afternoon when I noticed my car was gone! Someone stole the 22yr old from my driveway! It wasn't safe for the road so I didn't have any insurance on it.

Kinda bums me out because they stole my hard work. I did all the work on the car. I had it for 15yrs, kinda like my toy car.

Pretty valid reason to be disappointed...

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Maybe that show that takes cars and fixes them up will return it soon... :worship:

+1

Had a '65 VW bug with steel sunroof that got stolen 6 weeks before I graduated college. Funny thing is, I heard them start it up right after I had gone to sleep. I remember thinking, "No, that can't be mine. Who would steal that?" Police found it two days later outside of town, engine, battery and sound system gone--used a cutting torch to cut into the body over the engine to get to the top engine bolts.

I hope your car finds it's way back in better shape than mine did. And I hope the thieves get squished by a falling acme safe!
Still graced with two eyes and ten fingers (due in no small part to luck!).

sorry... i know your pain. i had a corrado yanked a few years back, i know it wont get your car back but take solistce in knowing that karma is a bi%&h! who ever popped it will probably get hurt when they crash it, or do something even dumber when they part it out. those old hatches do draw some attention.

i got a call about mine 6 months after it was taken to come identify custom parts at a stereo shop. those idiots actually kept the license pates from all the cars they took as trophys. something like 140-150 counts of grand theft auto.

good luck!

I can relate to loosing a car too. I had a nice little Pontiac rag top that I bought on Ebay. I didn't drive it much and though I could make a $1000 on it, so I listed it for sale in the local paper.

A dealer near by ask if they could sell it for me and we agreed on a price. That sucker sold the dang car at Statesville auto auction and I didn't even know it for a month. I went to pick it up and it was gone and so was the dealer!

They did this to 55 people. they were in the hole over half million dollars. They are in prison now, but I lost my car in the deal.

here is the little car I lost.

Did the information or the pic you posted have the GPS information attached to it, or do you think it was totally unrelated to you postings?

Mike...

I don't think it has GPS tags. It is an older Canon DSLR (about 6yrs old). unless they got my ip address or something but I doubt it.

What a minute...are you saying that a picture now has GPS tracking info attached to the picture? That is way too heavy for my old brain to wrap around. :?

I don't think any of my cameras have it, but it's kinda cool. How many times have you looked at a picture and said, "where did I take this?" You can turn it off if you don't want it embedded.

Lot's of cell phone pics have the gps tag. With a Droid, it is easy to turn off. I read somewhere that it is not so easy to turn off on an iPhone, but that was a long time ago, they may have corrected the issue. There have been several things on TV about it, warning people.

I just posted this on my car forum:

They found it!!

Got a call this morning from the police saying that they found it on the edge of a corn field about 4mi from my house. Here is something messed up part, apparently they found it a couple days ago. A neighboring PD found it and told the County Sheriff office, they told my PD who finally contacted me. Proly held up contacting me because it had (expired) TX tags. I gotta move some stuff out to get it in the garage. I can probably put it on my car hauler and leave it at the storage place. At least they have an 8ft fence and cameras.

They stole my Slipstreams and a few other things, but it was remarkably intact. They didn't F things up just to be jerks, I'm lucky with that. I put a set of old wheels on it and had it towed home, it's definitely not starting because they stole the ECU and used the battery as a jack stand. Looks like they tried to take my MSD wires, but broke them when they pulled them off. I haven't thoroughly checked it out to see what is missing, but what I've noticed so far:

Polished silver Rota Slipstreams
195/50-15 Kuhmo tires
Muteki lugnuts
Neuspeed front strut brace
AEM cold air intake
B&M fuel pressure riser
ECU Just a PG7 in a PM6 case
Generic silver aluminum oil cap

So if you see any of those for sale, lemme know.
