Trailer for two isn't enough anymore

Postby LMarsh » Wed Jul 06, 2011 8:37 pm

I figured it was about time to get this out there.

I thought the outfit would be popular here. Camden is almost 6 months old and he is our first. I've been toying with the idea of building a larger teardrop but if I sell our current one I it might take me 18 years to find time to build another!

What a cutie!! Ut oh.. he's already looking like he likes driving.

He's still small enough to be in the tear for a while. I've seen one tear with a side tent where multiple grandkids slept.

Who knows, maybe another, larger tear or TT will show up in the For Sale area that calls your name.

Hugs,

Yeah I would go for a side tent and that will work for a few years... while your building a new trailer on the side.

If you have the room over your feet, Put in a bunk.
That's what I wished I had done before my kid got to tall.
Two rods and some canvas.

Congratulations on your little "teardrop modifier". It looks like you could expand your shelf to make a "toddler bunk" there which might last quite a while:

Once he outgrows the bunk, it'll be time for an attached tent on the side. With the window or door open to the tent, you'll be able to know what your child is doing and won't sleep through any problems. Kids love sleeping in tents and it doesn't seem to give them the backaches that we might get.

With your careful planning and your skills, I am confident that you will find a way.

Of course, if he welcomes a brother or sister....

Thanks all for the congrats. We're pretty proud of our little monster (even if I haven't slept much in months). He is small enough that it isn't a big deal just yet, but I'm still getting itchy for another build. There is just a lot I would do different. But I still hope to make it to some nearby gatherings this year in the current trailer. :)

Congrats on the new addition to your family. Interesting name, same as our daughter's first child who is now 11. How did you come up with naming him Camden? Our daughter got it from the town in Maine where we have been many times. Her 2nd & 3rd have more common names, Joseph and Ava. All three love camping, so get him into it soon.

All I can say is plan ahead! I am not even done with my teardrop for 5 and my family has already grown to 6.

Make sure you design your trailer with a little extra room, just in case you have to squeeze a few more in down the road.

...watta cutie!!! When Eddie and Anna Pound added their new 1/4# addition to the family last year, they hardly checked up on their camping...they added a SUV tent to the side of their tear, setting it up as the "baby's room", with the side door open, they were all still together...added a baby monitor and at gatherings, they didn't miss much of the fun at all.......

Hey LMarsh,

Congratulations!

Camping with family is so much fun, the kids love camping! We have family of 5 in our camper now, built it with a bunk for that purpose!
