Outstanding job on the TV. I love the patina look on those classic trucks, and it definitely matches the TD perfectly.

A little text added. And for those that like stories and coincidences, I went with this because the Texaco station was my first job. I found out a couple of days ago that when the owner at that time purchased the business, they had a similar truck with the logo for a while in service. I must have some Kresken blood in me somewhere! The phone number was changed to protect the innocent. Sorry...little disclaimer there.

Very cool truck! It reminds me of this model I built a while ago of a much neglected 53 Ford Texaco service truck.

I sprayed some rust colored primer on it, then sprinkled cat litter and some real rust from a rusted Brillo pad on while the primer was wet, then scraped most it off when it dried. I display it on a garage diorama. Your Chevy is nicer, and it's REAL!

Truck back on the road again, after removing and replacing the front suspension and 6 cyl engine with 1958 Corvette V8 motor. Should have plenty of power now to tow these darned ole' trailers around!

Danny is that a little 283 cu in v8 ?

I have a buddy that is still driving a 1957 chevy with a 283 and he is getting 21 to 23 MPG out of it. He has had this car as his daily driver for well over 30 years. Yep he is a professional mechanic

This may sound sacreligeuos (to old car builders), but if I recall correctly, those old straight and slant 6 engines would run forever. I have wondered if performance could be boosted on the old 6 cylinders if they were outfitted with a modern fuel injection intake system.

the motor in my 49 chevy is a later model [67] 6 cylinder 250 with the motor work and carbs it is close to 300 hp and pulls my teardrop and canned ham just fine. i am not sure if just fuel injection by it self would increase the performance that much.

I dont think FI would add all that much power wise.It would make it easier to work on.Im in the auto industry and was a mechanic when I started and Im not a fan of carbs myself.

Though there are those that certainly love them.
