yeah, it definitely looks great!

another thing to keep in mind regarding the side is nothing in the woods is a perfectly straight line... meaning something manufactured would probably be more obvious to the eye if the reflection is a little wavy... like a broom handle leaning still against the wall... but i'd bet when it's surrounded by leaves, moving limbs, brush etc probably not so much... even most trees aren't very straight if you really look at them.

also, if you ever put non-glossy graphics on the side that'd break the reflection up even more. a lil bit o eye-trickery!

Hey guys thanks again for the nice comments. I'm doing some minor tweaking on the sides but I don't know if it'll help much. Today I've seen several alum sided trailer that have way worse alum. siding issues than the critter. I guess now is the time to focus on getting it finished.

I finally got the hatch lid installed today and to my surprise, it actually fits and works. I'll have to remove it to apply the sealant under the hinge and in the screw holes but I'm just happy that it worked the first time. You can still see the pukey pink film around the hinge.




Next up, finally, the door!!

I tell you what, lifting that lid is almost like lifting a heavy barbell over your head. That sucka heavy!! Definitely no chance of hatch spring back!

Larry your hatch ends up on the deck exactly like mine. What are you gonna do to bridge the crack where the hatch meets the floor. Trim piece?

I'm gonna use 1" wide by 1/8" thick aluminum along the bottom. The cubby manual calls for using t- molding but I didn't have any extra.

I wanted my hatch lid to be sturdy, not wimpy, but I guess I may have "over engineered" it too. Checked the weight of mine while being lifted, the first couple of feet it goes up to 45#. A lot more than I'd hoped for.

Hi Larry: Sorry to hear about your trouble with the side skins. I just floated my skin on the Silver Nugget. My trim holds it all together. I trimmed out the bottom of the front and sides with 1 1/2" x 1/8" flat aluminum held in place every 6" with SS screws. I like the look of your hatch. Wasn't that fun to build??? I will use T molding for my lower trim pice on the hatch. I still have some left over.
Any estimate of the first trip out and camping in it? Keep going, and keep up the nice work.
