Oh Yeah, f'shore...

[SNIP]..."just have to live outside...without a lot of maintenance."
I'm of the mind a fabric-skinned foamer is just the ticket for less maintenance...Now if I can just convince la hefa to let me keep it outside. Sure would make the design a lot easier.

One of my "experiments" will be to construct a bird feeder from 1/2" or 3/4" skinned foam board (adhered with and covered with a couple of coats of exterior latex paint). I want to see how this stuff weathers over the winter...Might as well make something that has more than one use (sort of like space in a tear or TTT).

I'm still in the "mind-building" process. I like to build projects a component at a time a couple of times first in my head, making adjustments along the way with quick sketches to confirm that what my mind's eye is seeing is applicable to the real world...Once I've got it built to my satisfaction "up there," I'll get the design down on paper for final adjustments and then take tools in hand and do the deed.

Miles to go, yada yada yada...

If it’s any consolation , My little Foamie spent all summer outside ... one of the Hottest summers I can remember , and punctuated by severe rainstorms ... No damage whatsoever except a little bird poop ... from Cardinals no less who seemed to like it ... for some silly reason ... Maybe it would make a good bird house ...

RE: Foamie Settling Down On It's Haunches

Hi GPW & TOWM,

Here's a link to an "Aerodynamic ToyHauler" that drops down to the
ground to disgorge its 'toys':

Here's a link to a chassis/frame for an Ice Shanty trailer. The suspension
for the wheels use either cranks or hydraulics to lower the shanty to the
surface of the ice:

Cheers,

That is pretty COOL .... 8) Looks Pricy for all that ... May be a bit more complicated than necessary ... Might be cheaper/easier to just enlarge the garage door eh ???

I have toyed with a similar idea for a standie, just to lower it to get it in the garage! The one you show in the link is complicated, but it's a toy hauler, and has to be able to leverage all the weight it is rated for up and down. The idea I was playing with required wheel wells that "opened" to allow clearance for the tires when lowering. A Foamie would be much lighter.

Unfortunately, I had a major computer crash a few days ago and my main computer is toast. Back to the drawing board!

I have a laptop, so that is my backup computer, I ordered a Seagate 1.5TB hard drive from tiger Direct. Supposed to be here Oct 11. I also downloaded Windows 7 Home Premium to load on all 3 of my computers.

Gosh I can’t wait to get started on this ... have thought and re-thought just about Everything , over and over ... Tired of thinking and dreaming about it ... Ready to make it a reality.

Guess the first thing will be the floor ... Once I get that done , the rest should just fall in place... That’s the plan anyway ...
