Heated Mattress Pads

i had a 12 volt one when i did long haul trucking,just pined it to the mattress, and sheets on top.it saved my bacon one night at -30 deg and my freightliner blew a rad hose in the middle of nowhere.kept me pretty warm for the night,plus it was nice to get into a warm bed every night.

I live on the colder side of the globe and was wondering would it be advisable to add an extra battery for when using electric pads, blankets, heaters, and what not?

I bought the same for my teardrop. I took it in the house and gave it a test. Worked so well over the winter months it never left my bedroom!

A mattress pad will retain the heat under covers and warms whatever part of your body it contacts. An electric blanket is a lot cheaper and heats above you casting the heat into the surrounding area and partially warming your body, not very efficient. Your suppose to not put covers over an electric blanket for safety reasons. The choice is yours. Danny

OK, I bit the bullet and ordered a small warmer. I'm doing a couple days of volunteer trail work later on. I want to be warm at night. Warm can be a good thing.

Also had to get a new battery for the trailer last month.

We use a twin size electric blanket underneath a 3 inch down filled Duvae and even at below freezing, we stay very cozy with the dial set on the 4th number. We looked at heated mattress pads but they were 20-30% more costly. I would probably use your heated mattress pad on top of the memory foam as the density will prevent heating up quickly however, try it both ways and see what works for you..

I was going to run the single size across the middle of the Boxcar's queen size bed but I put in a diesel heater instead.

A foam topper over the mattress warming pad will make it over heat and could possibility cause a fire. Danny

A number of years ago my parents woke up to their bed on fire from an electric blanket. My dad got 2nd & 3rd degree burns on his hands trying to put it out. They were both lucky. Personally, I would never use an electric blanket nor an electric heated mattress pad.

I'm thinking it will be quite safe. I plan to plug it in to warm things up, then unplug it for the rest of the night. The way I am, it would be too warm for all night.

I really like our electrowarmth pad. It goes two nights before the battery is drained. Usually I set it on medium to warm the bed and low for sleeping or else it will roast you out. It is surprising how comfortable the trailer is, and how little it takes to warm it up.

Ahh, being in a wetter climate than I, can you tell me if it takes the dampish feel out?
