It's official...I now have a Grasshopper 'teardrop'!!!

Postby DragonFire » Sun Oct 23, 2011 7:19 pm

I have joined your ranks...I just brought the Grasshopper I've been trying to get back to Sacramento. Just got home from picking her up in NV and taking her to my friend's house where she is stored until I sell my Aristocrat.

Looking forward to camping with everyone next year. I have lots of questions about things..tires and such, so please put up with me. I'll post pictures when I can...right now I need food and some sleep. I'll figure out how to post photos later.

I have CI, 2 DO's, a 10x10 pop-up, ice chest, sleeping bag, Coleman lanterns. Need to hit the DMV, buy a small truck, and I'm ready to camp!!!

I'm just so thankful I could get this trailer over on this side of the Sierra before it snows! I love my new little trailer!!

Congratulations!

Camping is permitted in your own driveway by the way. :)

You say you got it in Nevada. Was it Minden?

That's mine now!!!!! Jerry is really close to being done with the 78 that he wrecked...he rebuilt it so it's stronger..added a second door, etc.

I like mine stock. A few updates are fine, but I like the 70's coloring. I will make new curtains for the inside and do a few other minor things, and bring my avocado match safe and paper towel holder from the Aristocrat. At some time I want to have the ice box removed and have a cabinet and drawer put in kind of like Jerry's. I like the idea of a drawer with silverware and cooking utensils right there by the stove.

He made me a nice hardwood sink cover that I'm going to stain and seal over the winter.

Can't wait to bring the Grasshopper out to show you all...expect 70's Tupperware and other 'authentic' 70's things...My 10x10 is even close to avocado green!!!

Always interesting to see the ancestry of ours. Mega-Mini #1 was almost an exact copy, single door three rear door/hatches etc. and an almost identical profile.
MM #7 Compass Rose has all the changes we suggested and things we wanted including the two doors and single galley hatch.
Having an original will be fun and the design is a good one.

Thanks everyone for the kind words!! When I started looking at teardrops I wasn't finding one that really caught my eye..until I saw this Grasshopper!!

I'm still amazed at how tiny it is...it's shorter than my neighbor's Camry..but it has a really good use of space in the cabin. Has anyone else done the mini dinette thing in their trailer?? I love the idea. If it rains and I need to hang out inside for awhile it would be a great place for a game of Scrabble. I have a battery Coleman lantern so I wouldn't have to drain the trailer battery. I'm seriously thinking of asking for another one for Christmas..we do a 'Secret Santa' thing at work and I can never think of stuff for my list. That would be perfect. I never have a 'normal' list anyway...I got teased because I asked for a rice cooker from Costco last year (but I got it, and I use it all the time!!)

Let me know what other ideas you have. I picked poor Jerry's brain, and he shared a lot of tips with me and built some stuff for me. I need to get/make a hose for the sink outlet (he suggested an old washing machine hose) and I have an ice box that needs to turn into a cabinet.

Inside I need to do some organizing and see what bins fit where. Everything has to be 70's colors. Luckily I have a bunch of stuff from the Aristocrat! Including fabric for the curtains!
