How are you planning to finish the inside of the roof?

I plan on doing the inside with canvas and paint too. I don't think we are going to do anything with the kerfs on the inside. They will show through the canvas a little bit, but it shouldn't be too bad.

I think I will cut the canvas into 2 1/2 foot wide pieces and just cover one section and two spars at a time.

Mike...

Just a thought, Mike...would it be more time-effective to tack a full-length canvas piece up to the ceiling with a batten at each spar that's narrow enough so that the majority of the spar is accessible for gluing (say, 1/4" wide batten on 3/4" wide spar?), and then once that's dried, remove the battens and coat that area?

Might also deal a little better with any shrinkage that way?

Enjoying the build...

it all makes sense now

The 2 inch cut was where the roof meets the floor. And to ensure the continuity of the curve the sides extend below the floor.

I feel pretty stupid now. Nice looking build.

The plan is to get out this weekend... but otherwise, no, not yet.

And tomorrow morning is shot, we gotta go out on a service call.

Miriam

Nice to hear that things are getting done there. But those big trees take to long to grow.

Are you thinking of a foamie in your future?

:D

I've had to set up my storage tent, and put the foamie in there for the winter. It's gotten so cold up here...

I'm at the point where I need to sand the vinyl spackling... and I've just not been in the mood for sanding... reminds me too much of drywall.

On your way to GPW's, you almost have to go through my neighborhood on the way down. Stop by and we'll caravan together. It will give me an opportunity to see how a big foamie tows. Has nothing to do with having another reason to go to NOLA to see the twins (and my daughter).
