omg! madjack i am so proud for and of you! i am in the same boat as you with the smoking. but if i am reading this right you still are using a e-cig with only nicotin to smoke? and are you always still going to be using this? or do you eventually stop using the e-cig? i think i am at that stage now to do this.
could you give me the link to the ones you used? i don't want to get something that isn't the real thing and i don't know enough about this to know the difference.
are there cheaper versions then that $200 one?

oh i see that from the above that there are different ones. so you started with the $30 ones? do you have a link? thanks so much.

LE, our intention was to spend much less money and get away from inhaling a bonfire of leaves, paper and 4000 assorted chemical...whether we ever quit the nic(which has actual health benefits and is NOT a carcinogen)...one of the great things is 1000's of flavors which you can specify the nic level from 0% upto around 2.5-3%...we are vaping 1.6% at present...we started and are using the Riva510 kit, which is almost Sharpie sized and gets 6+ hrs of continuous vape time...my wife swaps batts once per day and I swap a couple r3...after much searching and researching, I bought the kits from liberty-flights.com...

Like it was said, there are many E-Cigs out there.

I used Smoke-Tip http://www.smoketip.com/

http://tnttt.com/viewto ... sc&start=0

It was relatively easy.

I stepped down from the 16mgs tar & nicotine refills, to the "0"mgs in a matter of about 3-4 months.

The only problem I had was just putting the darn thing down! Still had to have something in my hand.

Good Luck Jack and congratulations.

Happy Trails

...congrats to you as well Len...yep, there are many, many kinds of e-cigs on the market...unfortunately, the ones on TV and many you find at gas stations and smoke shops are of dubious quality and the ones they advertise on late nite TV are absolute rip-offs...the ones, I showed pics of are top of the line units and meant to show the variety available...one rule of thumb for anyone interested is, the closer to ciggy looking it is, the poorer it's performance will be AND if it has the word "HEALTH" in the name, you probably wanna avoid it.........

Way to go Jack..i personally gave up smokes using the patch..the big ones for 2 weeks, and the little ones for one week, then threw them bastards out the door..that was about 15 years ago...

I've quit a lot of things as i got older..quit thinking..quit smoking..quit doing the horizontal bop, and quit caring..but by GOD, i don't wanna quit breathing..

Tomorrow will be a month since my last cigarette. The e-cig is a life changer. After smoking for 20 years and rolling my own for the last 8, putting them down was no problem with this thing. :applause:

while but glad I stuck with it. Congrats to all that have quit and to all that

are trying.

Hey Jack! I just came across this post and first of all, I've got to say "Congratulations"!!! (and Congrats to the others, too).

My husband and I started using eCigs and just celebrated our 7'th month, SMOKE FREE! Like you, I had smoked for 40-years and depending on where I was... 2+ packs a day. I'm pretty sure he's smoked as many years as I have, and probably just about as much. I am thrilled!
 :applause:

We started using the Joye510. Hubby has switched to the eGo (shown above). I'm still using the Joye510, but I switched to the mega battery, which is longer but the charge lasts much longer. My husband's eGo battery will last the entire day. It's a little big for my taste, though... feel like I'm smoking a stogie.

...yep, these little devices are almost miraculous...little over 4mos now and have dropped the nic level twice...have also stepped up to a more powerful batt...first an E-Power and for Christmas, a variable voltage box mod...nothing like a nice big breath of clean air(when I can find some)............

We're not as good at stepping down, but we're trying. We started at 18mg and about 4-months later, stepped down to 11mg. That's as far as it's gone, so far. I think when we hit 8-months, it will be time to go down to 7.

Have you thought about the 0mg? (Not OMG...zero mg).
I wonder if I'll be able to quit using the eCigs, even after I'm off nicotine. I do know that they make juice with no nicotine. So, I was wondering if I'll be using these things forever, even when I'm not using nicotine.

Even if I quit, completely... I'll keep it around, forever. I know too many people who quit smoking and a couple years later, something happens and they go buy a pack of cigarettes, then, they're smoking again. I will keep my eCigs so if that happens, I'll have it to fall back on.

I can honestly say I will NEVER smoke another cigarette... NEVER!

I and the Wife(aka the poor girl) will probably never quit the ecigs...started at 24mg nic, went down to 16mg...with the more powerful ecig, it atomizes more juice so, more nic so, a drop to 12mg is called for or headaches will follow...down to 12mg is as low as the "plan" calls for for now but, we'll see what the future brings............
madjack 8)

p.s. quite a few folks on the ecig forum vape 0mg juice...they just like the flavors...supposedly, if you get down to 6-8mg nic, you have gotten below the addiction threshold...still got that mental thing to break though.............mj

Interesting! I guess once we have been on 7mg for a while, we could mix 0mg and 7mg and see what happens. If we can get by on that, might as well go to 0 all the time. BUT, that's gonna be a while.

Although never a smoker myself, my husband quit 20 years ago after a 20 year, 2ppd habit. My father passed at age 48 from lung cancer and his brother followed shortly after at age 53 from lung cancer, both heavy smokers. He says the same thing. He no longer craves it, and as a matter of fact can't stand to be around cigarette smoke, or that stale cigarette smell, anymore. He also said it was amazing how much better he felt and how quickly. He ran a marathon a few years after quitting.

Good for you Madjack. I'm sure you and your wife have added many years to your lives together. Congratulations.
Life is sooooo good.........
