What do you think of these new water-sealed woods?

I was watching This Old House the other day, and they are using a sheathing on the current project house that is OSB with a waterproof coating. For homes, it replaces the need for Tyvek Housewrap.

I wonder if this could improve Teardrop building? No need to epoxy plywood?

You would still have to deal with the end grain, but if that is all, it could be a real time-saver. And, might work better.

What do you think?

That is a pretty good idea, too bad it comes in only the 7/16" and 1/2" thickneses. Of course, who builds houses with 1/4" sheathing??? I wonder how much it costs?

And so is the Wishbone wagon.

I have a few partial sheets that are cut offs that have been out in the weather over a year with NO degradation. It seems there is a totally different binder resin that is much more weather tolerant. Also , the inside OSB face is smooth as a babys butt .

As to price it was only a couple of dollars more per sheet than standard OSB !

and that sealing tape ( see first pic above ) is the best weather seal tape I have ever used , even better than ice dam tape.

The builder we were building for had it as part of their building specifications. They have moved on and we have about 35 sheets of the 7/16 left as distressed inventory. I am going to purchase it off of the boss and utilize what is left to subside the caboose.

I used it as subsiding for the FRP panels on both builds here is the final shots......
