Second trip with the Squidget Pop Top

Postby cracker39 » Fri Nov 25, 2011 12:23 pm

I went on my second camping trip with the PT, again, by myself as my wife isn't well enough for camping these days. Don't worry, her oldest granddaughter came in the evenings to stay overnight with her...payback for all those times Grandma babysat her.

If you're interested, details, info and photos are found here:

Where in Florida do you live? PM or email me if you prefer not to make that info public.

Between the poptop and the squidget, how the two compare? Do you have a preference?

It all depends on storage. The PT was designed to be stored inside a garage or carport, or in my case, beneath the vinyl tarp of my portable garage. The pop top takes less than two minutes to put up or down, but in the original Squidget there is no chance of bumping my head when ducking down to get to the couch.

For convenience, I would rather have the original Squidget's "standie" design, but for towing perfornance, the PT's lower profile is more desireable as it has less drag.

I suppose that I would prefer to have the original Squidget stretched to fit on the 5'x10' frame of the PT, and with the same galley appointments of the PT. So, the bottom line is that I'd like to have a hybrid of the two if I were to build another trailer--a longer standie like the Squidget with the galley and dual tongue boxes of the PT. And, the profile would also be more of a combination of the two trailers, and probably more of a retro canned ham look.
