Well I was thinking I really need to do a build journal and then Gremlin reminded me that I already had, just before I had my accident, hip replaced, knees and the tumor in my head. Well I am back in the saddle and building again. In fact I spent half a day yesterday working on wiring and realizing I need to put a couple of strips of plywood to hold the bulkhead panel of cherry on the interior. While I still have some limitations on movement, I have found nothing better for the spirit and the body than being out in the garage. I am shooting for a campable setup by spring break.

Wife went out with the girls today so it gave me about 5 hours to work on Charley.

I finished the circuit breaker box and installed all the wires. Secured some of the wires and wired up the water pump. Then installed the panels that are the back of the shelf. Then put the shelf up and secured that into place. I bit the bullet and cut out the roof vent. I am now committed.

Cleaned it out of all the junk, wires, roof supports and blew out most of the dust. Fitted the bulkhead with its insulation and now need to cut out the cherry paneling that will go over it.

Also took some of the insulation that I have left over and fitted it into the ceiling cavity. I dont know how worth of a question on its own is, but i was wondering how much effort did you put into making your roof dust free. I blew them out but still found some small colonies of dust in the corners. seems too much effort to get the shop vac and clean it out.

The roof vent and the doors still scare me.

Today I got to work on Charley. I have had the last two days off from work but I had other things like getting ready for Christmas. However I squeezed a couple of hours into working on Charley. I really didnt feel like working on the electrical so I did the front spars. I think they came out pretty good. It will help keep the side cherry up and the ceiling panel in place. good eveings work.

Got a little bit done today. Stained and put the first coat of spar ureathane on today. Also cleaned up a few things in the crowded garage. I also bought some cabinet grade 3/4 birch at home depot. It was on sale for 25 dollars a sheet. I had them rough cut it to fit the roof width. With about an inch over hang. It has a clean side and a dirty side for sure. Also bought the remainer of insulation I will need. So I have a few things to keep me busy. Ialso practiced making 45 degree cuts. I am not doing so great at it practice make perfect

The last three panels of the interior were installed tonight. Its done and it feels good. Now I just need to trim it out with the black edging. Now I just need to add my additional lights. Put in the insulation and then the roof. Doors and hatches here I come.

Well spent the weekend thinking about the angled cut. Figured it was a pair of 15 degree angles and spent the day making cuts drilling holes applied the glues and wham front end is up.

The color of your interior is just awesome. I don't know how I missed you starting up this build again. Bravo!.

I'll admit, I'm a little nervous about door building also.

I am a happy camper. Big day IMHO, I wired up the light switches and then put the two remaing LED lights in. Wired the 110V outlets and then pluged in the power cord. Flipped the switch and nothing arced. Flipped both circuit breakers still no arcs and then flipped the light switches and there was light. Tested all four lights and the reading lamps it all worked. I still need to install one more reading lamp in the loft area. Insulation can now go in the roof. I also bought some cherry flooring to go in Charley. It was on sale at Home Depot for 80 cents a square foot. Here is a pic of the first lighting after i turned out the lights. Half the lights are on so i feel good that it will be able to be seen from space once camping.

No matter how sure you are you did everything right, it's still a moment of anticipation the first time you power up!
