One thing that is worth mentioning, the Nook uses the EPub file format. You can now check out some ebooks from your local library. Another resource for free ebooks.

There are other reader applications you can put on the Kindle Fire (not the eInk Kindles) that will read epubs. Calibre will convert epubs to mobi files for the Kindle. Yup, a pita for some people and a deal killer for others.

Anyone with the Kindle Fire, have you found a problem with an advertizement popping up while reading. I was at Barns and Noble and the sales lady told me about that. It does not make sense to me. I would think that would tic some owners off.

No. Keep in mind you're hearing that from an employee of the competition. You do get ads on the cheapest Kindle. That's why the cut price.

No ads on the other Kindles

I read books on my netbook. I like having a keyboard, the ability to load other programs, use a dvd/cd, and everything a notebook can do. I get over 4 hours on a battery. My brother has an IPAD and loves it.

I guess there are advantages to dedicated readers but this works for me.

I take anything I hear from a salesperson with a grain of salt. Most of the reviews I have read on both the fire and nook tablet have been pretty good. I have read a few complaints about the fire but then some folks have said they did not see any of those problems with theirs.

When I do get one it will be the nook tablet. I already have a bunch of nook ebooks and like the fact that a Barns and Noble is close by to ask questions.

I have the Sony 950 and my wife has the Kindle 3. Both are great readers. Long battery life. I love my touch screen and my wife enjoys the 3G. Having an ereader is wonderful. The amount on books that we can carry is amazing. The screens are clearly readable in the sunlight. Oh yeah, if you like 1000 page novels then an ereader is the way to go.

No ads on the Kindle Fire. The cheapest kindle ($79) has ads.

I've been impressed with the resolution of the screen and have had no eye fatigue. I like as much as my Kindle 3 (keyboard kindle - non touch).

I also have a pandigital, but an older model. From the Android market, I aquired readers for all the major ebooks. Now I can read kindle, kobo, and Barne's and Noble books.

My son has a Kindle, my mother has a nook.

this is going to leave the daughters little netbook unloved im sure so now i need to find a use for that, maybe my music stuff....
