Took a stroll in my neighborhood park late yesterday afternoon. Hiking along, and deep in thought, I kept hearing a sound on the edge of my consciousness -- then suddenly realized it was the sound of migrating geese high overhead. I could hear them but not see them. In the neighborhood walking home with more of the sky visible, I was treated to the sight and sounds of three big flocks of honkers heading south southeast. Can't remember how to tell Canada Geese from Snow Geese on the wing but it is quite wonderful to see them high in the sky in formation.
They were in a "V" formation, but not a balanced one; there was a long line of geese on the east side, with just a few on the west side.
