De-lurking from Cincinnati

Postby bobsmyuncle » Mon Jan 16, 2012 6:41 pm

Been lurking around here for a couple of months. As I near retirement, I'm wanting to get back into camping. Still working out needs & wants, so I don't know if it will be a build or buy, or rehab.

I run a furniture repair / refinish business so I have a lot of woodworking skills but wouldn't know what to do with a welder.

Did a lot of camping in Boy Scouts (we had stone axes back then I got a "hunting mastodon" merit badge.) and when my kids were younger, up until the early '90s.

There is a lot you can do without ever touching a welder. Many of us built on top of harbor freight frames, or scavenged frames from underneath junked pop-ups.

Welcome to the fun!

Greetings from another Buckeye. There are a number of sources for the trailers from the ubiquitous Harbor Freight to custom aluminum there is a manufacturer near Toledo that does aluminum snowmobile trailers. A great deal depends on what you want to do.

Greetings from a neighbor to the west. Don't worry about welding, there are lots of ways around that. There are all sorts of utility trailers, in all sizes that can be purchased. Get one of those and then turn loose your imagination on top of it.
