'Fake' fire ;-)

General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

The one thing it has going for it is that it does'nt have that FAKE pile of FAKE wood on it. I like the lava rocks its more honest. And for the space, You can get more hours of fire with that fire pit and a BBQ tank of propane then you can with a pile of fire wood of the same size. It has its place and or nitch in the camping world.

I kind of doubt if a little bottle could run one of those, even at mid setting. You can only draw a certain % of fuel per time. Now if you was to heat one of those up.....say in the fire itself....make sure you are recording it so you or your heirs can post it to Youtube.

I've never tried it Randy, but considering the regulators cut the psi back to like 6psi, I think it might keep up.

Here's a link to the adapter. http://www.walmart.com/ip/COLEMAN-1LB-PROPANE-TANK-ADAPTER/13848704

Probably cheaper on fleabay or Amazon.

How about dog scorching? I almost changed my former dog's name to scorch. She'd move in a little too close to the fire, pretty soon we'd smell her hair, and at that time, she'd jump up. She'd cool off and then hug the fire again.

Can dogs do that with the fake fire?

Our TearJerkers Chapter has a "Winter Bull $hit Session" each year and its basically an overnight "Indoor" Camping Trip.

In fact we're having it this weekend.

We've used one inside..With Caution!

We used to go to the Dollar Store and buy a bunch of Candles and burn them in a Trash Can Lid.

Happy Trails

Hey Len

Cool looking campout. Now that you mention candles it jogged my fading brain cells. I usually carry one of those candles in a jar with me. I call it my mini camp fire. I have never liked a large campfire and I know the scene where someone throws a bunch of old pallets on a fire. And that was at a family reunion. And I just don't get much of a kick out of even a small campfire unless it is rather cold.

slow. this years out board boat motor is looking like a pair of feet and flippers.

Slow,

I saw your frame pics in a thread a while back. It looks pretty cool and I'll bet it works great in Wyoming. Leaving an outboard in plain sight here in Minnesota is a good way to lose it. It needs to be out of sight and locked up.

I think I'm going to need a tongue-box big enough for a 15hp outboard, the gas cans, and apparently a gas fireplace and the propane to run it.

Thanks Paul, I think I may try that. If I could make two or three bottles last a weekend this setup would be ideal!

Dan that is a great idea I want fake logs on mine. Stripes of red cellophane and little fan . Fake fire for the fake fire.
Now to come up with fake heat?

Just rub on some Icy/hot on your hands and face. Its perfect. :applause:

I know what you mean. Some nights we'll just sit around a Kerosene Lantern, or a candle.

The flame just memorizes ya. No matter what the size.

We had a fake fire one time in our Huckleberry Camp.

It was too dry and windy for a fire. The one who had a camper, instead of a tent, came out with candles so we set them up in the fire ring.

I better go out and get some camping stuff handy. The snow has been dumping here and the wind has come up. The power went off once. Tomorrow, we're supposed to really get it, so I'll have a real fire going in the woodstove.
