group buys

Postby droid_ca » Sun Jan 22, 2012 10:56 am

I was sitting around trying to figure out ways to save a couple of bucks
and then it dawned on me  if we as a group could do bulk buys or group buys :applause:
heck there are even websites where you get referred to by other websites :ok:
so if we had something like that any profits could go to keep the site up and running
These are just some of my morning ramblings I better have some coffee now

droid..what did you have in mind? What kind of product? Camping related? Build related? Or household stuff we use every day?

Sounds interesting.

I have seen blogs and what not that have links to the side that will take you to say amazon or something similar and from my understanding the place that redirected gets like a finders fee...so as for stuff I was thinking camping related but who knows the sky is the limit just thought that I could get the ball rolling and maybe someone that knows a little bit more about it could chime on in...

That's how sites like Facebook make their money, along with selling advertising space since they have the volume of users.

Advertisements would have to be unobtrusive, or you may offend some users, and there are some that would never see them anyway due to running programs like adblocker. That being said, done properly, a small revenue could probably be earned this way. Lots of us make purchases based on someone else's recommendations, and if you could tie these into a revenue earning tool, it would be awesome.

sounds interesting. I'm trying to think of stuff that a bunch of us on here might need...or want for our setup. Like fake fires! Small Coleman propane canisters?

parnold...you brought up anther thing there...selling ad space here..for specially approved trailer/camping products.

Maybe Mike has checked into it already. Lots of sites will sell banner ads for related products, artists, whatever.

I'm sure we can all come up with suggestions for ads we wouldn't mind seeing. Sometimes the ads will run a special code for the group..like a percentage off trailer tires if you use code TDTTT or something at checkout.

At least it would help with the cost of this site, and we might get some discounts, too.
