General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

First teardrop gathering.

Postby campmaster-k » Mon Jan 30, 2012 6:25 pm

In may will be the Dam Gathering. It is our fist gathering. Mary and I are looking forward to it. We have done a fair amount of camping mostly with young kids. Now its different, no young kids. We like to hike and explore, fish and cook and just read. Oh yea if you like to loss money playing poker that can be arranged.

What do you do during the day at a Teardrop Gathering.

Talk with people:
--Meet new people
--Talk to old friends
--Steal ideas from someone else's trailer

The weekend usually passes way too fast!

I have been at smaller gatherings where we all spent quite a bit of time together, and I have been at a very large gathering where I spent most of the time wandering around trying to see all the trailers. Do what you are comfortable with!

There has been a trailer crawl at a few I've attended. Think bar crawl, but with teardrops

We'd gather whoever wanted to do it, and start at one trailer and walk around to all the teardrops getting tours from the owners along the way. All while drinking a few choice beverages.

People mostly talked and we toured the tears. People did break away to do their own things (floating down the river in tubes, going to the waterfall, going to the farmers market, I made my regular trip to Starbucks, etc...) but we mainly visited and looked in and out of all of the teardrops. We showed off all of our treasures and gadgets, we fixed a drawer from someones tear, we invented the ez up ceiling fan, we munched on each others foods, played some "rv" type games (throwing beanbags at something), roasted marshmallows, made pies in these thingys, had a FANTASTIC pot luck, helped each other with tasks, etc...

Get on I-80 and go west, and go west some more, then go a little bit further! THEN you will be getting close.

Would love to be in Wyoming this summer...but that was last summers adventure...this year it is North to the Redwoods!

But if Walk to the Winds becomes an annual event...I will try and make that one...LOVE Wyoming!!

Kirk we have been to a couple and people usually visit each others sites, some get together and see the sites, some hike, some do a lil pick'in. Sheri and I will do a lil of it all and relax and have fun. At night everybody will get together on Saturday evening and have a pot luck dinner or depending on the size we will go to a great restaurant. In Savannah last year we all went to a great seafood restaurant anf at the one I went to in AL we had a great potluck chili cook off. Just have fun and enjoy!

Cliff
In God we trust, shoot the rest and he will sort out!
