OK so I'm going to veer off topic a little but its about Foamies so it still counts
Ants what about them is there a fear of ants up here in the colder half of the world we get ants that like to eat foam is that a worry for all of you that have foam trailers..I was discussing this with a friend and he brought it up with me that where his old cabin was there were big ant hills and they would steal all the foam that was around he told me he would nail a cup to the stump when he went away and by the following weekend it was mostly devoured...so is this a worry for you???

Wow... first I've heard of ant problems like that. I was under the impression that ants like sugar or fats.... now styrofoam???? Since most every bit of foam is encapsulated in skin or under a wood skin, I think it won't be an issue but I've never heard of such a thing... :? :? :?

now i don't know about stryofoam eating ants... :frightened: ...but we do have ants here and lots of them. but i have yet to have a problem with my foamie and ants, they haven't even attempted to climb up onto my frame or anything here.

now one time camping i did have an ant problem. not sure what they were headed for, but they climbed up my tripod, and onto my wood counters. i put water bowls around the tripod legs and took care of the issue.

the only thing so far i have found that really likes foam are slugs! if i leave my foam outside, the next day the slugs are all over it, and lots of slugs. but none on the actual foamie, just the foam that has been laying in the yard.

Now are those slugs with or without the shells ??? Ever wonder how a shell can start out so small and then get so big ... the shell doesn’t “grow” , apparently they just keep adding on to it ... Maybe an idea for a Foamie ... "add ons" ...

when i was stationed in portugal, there was a lady there that collected the snails off the buildings, she would take them home and eat them.

i have only tried the once, and they were gross.

My high school French class had escargot served during one class
with all the garlic and seasoning they could have been cow-pies and tasted good.
best use of garlic I can remember in my 69+ years is one Christmas at work we
had boned turkey fixed by a friends cousin, a chef who used garlic very tasty

Tide will work in a pinch. Slugs are on the short list of things i dispatch on site without remorse.

Living out in the woods , I’ve learned to respect all living things (save mosquitoes) ... Every thing has a purpose ...something we haven’t quite sorted yet ..
Now some folks might feel squeamish about eating Crawfish (Mud bugs) ... consumed a good many of those ... :o Strange our cultural food differences ... and then there’s the Vegans ... :frightened:

Poor snails ... they are so much like us , dragging along their little mobile homes ... ... and the ones without a shell just haven’t got around to making one yet ... Sounds familiar eh ???

there aren't many things i will kill, but the blood sucking skeeters must go. the venomous snakes (copper heads around here) will be destroyed if we see them. and bees, if by where i work or live, by that i mean their nest must go from my porch or my house. as long as those critters stay out back in the woods or the fields, we will leave them alone. but once they come up here and we see them, they are goners. sorry

now the slugs, i just flick them off and leave em be.

oh i forgot the black widow, she's a goner also and i don't care where i see her. hmm, i guess i have a longer list than i think. most of the times i will do live traps for the mice. but when i see too many around here, or they are seen in the kitchen, the death traps come out.
