Just came back from a short and rather expensive semi-annual trip to the Vet . Dog OK , Wallet Empty !!!

We do that every year, times 2. The dogs hate it. We hate it. So why do we do it? :?

 My 18lb dog, 1st trip to the vet $250.00. He needed a tooth pulled, that cost $350.00. His pain and other medicines included. I COULD have paid for my trailer, a really nice one! But, I do love that little dog! :money: :money

Frank, you need to add some pics of your dog to your album. The wet dog one just isn't going to cut it...

You really need to feed puppy feed until he is 18 months old. I do this with my dogs and they turn out really well, healthy and big.
works for me. I am anxious to see what you build this time, the first build was impressive.

I remember saying to myself that if any of my dogs ever needed an expensive procedure, I would refuse to do it and have the dog put down. Our previous dog who we put down at last year at the age of 14 was a shelter dog that we got for "free". When Zeek was about 7 he caught a bad virus of some sort and while the pocketbook screamed in protest and my logical brain said we shouldn't, we ran up a vet bill of $2500 to save him. Lucky for him and us that we had just received our tax refund check. I'd spend that money again in a heart beat to save one of my dogs. As much as they can sometimes drive me nutty, I love the companionship and unconditional love. I also keep telling myself, no more dogs especially after the heart break of putting Zeek down, but I can't help it. We have two of em now. We also have two cats.... let's just say that I'm not wild about them...

hey droid, did your male knock the female out on valentines day? it looks like a flask sitting on her.

now about the food, i use purina one, for the puppies. stop feeding that between 1 and 2 yrs of age. depending on the breed. i guess its not as expensive as what droid feeds. the adult dogs get little bites (or something like that). may not be the best food out there, but all my dogs have turned out fine.

simba seems to be a different dog since his neutering. he is so much more full of himself then before. he jumps like crazy and runs around like a maniac! i never would have thought he would be more active after this surgery, but he is. i am still restraining him, because i don't want those staples coming out early. but i do let him have some free time, and i let him out with a long line so he has room to romp.

Hahahahaha your half right Eaglesdare that was one of our workout days so they were exceptionally tired that day as for the flask that is actually her collar just doesn't fit her at this time she is still small but growing fast...as for the dog food I live in a small town (population 511) so when it comes to buying stuff I try to shop local. I would buy a bit of a cheaper brand but that is a 2 hour drive in either direction and the grocery store says they can order it in but I'd have to buy the whole pallet ....so I guess I am saving in the long run...on a bright side to go camping in these beautiful mountains I only need to drive for 15 minutes in either direction and I'm at beautiful camp grounds that supply fire wood and here is the good part they are FREE now that's being thrifty and that is what this thread is all about feel free to check it out

the mountains is what attracts most people here we have world class snowmobiling as well as heli-skiing here... apparently the mountains are one of the things that people miss when they move away

i am sure. i know i just can't live away from the ocean. born bred and raised near the ocean. was even stationed in cuba, loved living on an island. but i love the mountains to look at and take vacations there. can't wait til we travel west and see some real mountains.

He may get lazy but he will get fat if you are not careful. Mine is fat and he loves to eat more than anything else. I guess that is all that is left for him since he lost the family jewels. He should weigh about 100 lbs but he is at 120.
