How bout using the boat trailer as a tandem, they're not heavy, and do a scaled up version of the rosswell in Hall of Fame, throw on the conning tower for a standy section, maybe a shower while you look out on the world through portholes.
Everyone will just think your off to the launch with your mini Submarine
And weld a receiver on the back and get one of them propeller hitch covers

Okay. I am starting to cut the trailer up and trying to decide if I need the two axle's or not. I don't plan on using the submarine design. It is going to be the 2+2 high design. The rating on the tag on the trailer is 2,250# on each axle. So my question is do y'all think that the 2+2 design will weigh more than that.

Well the axle has been relocated. All the other metal off and starting to weld the cross braces in. As I weld them in I will cut out the bent ones for the boat.

Had about 6 hours off and on to work on the trailer this weekend. Got all the cross members in. They are 2"x2"x1/4" angle spaced on 24" centers. Might be a little over built but that is what I had. I went ahead and welded tabs on the outside for the hand over. The outside wall will be about a 1/2" past the tab for an overall width of 6'3". Also was able to get a new jack installed on the front. This week hopefully I will be able to get it wire brushed down and painted by the weekend. Then maybe some real building. Have a good week folks.

I have no idea if you need the extra axle but i would not take it off. It's easier to get to the next town with three tires than one.
Plus you won't have to worry near as much about distributing your weight.

Got the trailer painted today. Two coats of good'ol Rustoleum industrial semi gloss black. Maybe this weekend some flooring. Here is a link to a short time laps video. Just playing around with my camera.

Tonight I put the trailer on the ground with the wheels and tires. Decided to try the bathroom scale weighing. Came up with 530#'s. laid out the plywood for the floor got it cut and the first coat of waterproofing on. Hopefully be doing some walls this weekend.

Well today was a long day. My little helper and I started early this morning. We had to get him a piece of wood so that he could nail on.

Started out redoing the profile layout. Used some #16 stranded wire to get the the shape drawn. It seemed to work real good flexible enough and it did not stretch. Had stuff strung everywhere. Also had my little contraption to hold the pencil.


The way I had planned on doing the framing was to hold the side framing down 2". Then bend the 1/8"-1/4" plywood around the ledge then install the roof spars then the roof plywood. hope it works. I was going to use the template from today on some 1/2 plywood sandwiched too 1" and use a pattern bit to cut it out. I have seen this numerous times but it puts a smile on your face when you finally have a shape cut out of some wood.


Here is what I came up with on the hatch. Hope it works. I already see one problem.

I do find a build goes so much better when I have crayons and a sippy cup in the build area. The galloshes dont hurt either. Looking great the question i had looking at your profile is how tall will it be? Half my kids like to work on the trailer the others are like its boring it takes too long thats all youve done in 4 hours. For the last few fathers days birthdays and other gift bearing holidays i get stuff for the trailer.

Makes it alot of fun. I am in construction and while building things it is always hurry, hurry, rush, get it done. With the kids helping it makes me step back and slow down and have fun at what you are doing. Sometimes it is hard to turn that switch back and forth. The outside height will be 5' with the inside being 4' 9-1/4".
