Reverse Lights

A) Do you use them?

B) What do/did you use?

I have looked at the simple 12v "utility lights" on the shelf at walmart but they are round and im just not crazy about them. Other options I'm considering include: Tractor Implement lights and/or Fog lights.

I dont have much experience with the implement lights. my past experience with those type of fog lights has not been great but maybe I just did not wire them right or something.

Please, REGALE me with your wisdom and experience!!!!

I use the small rectangle driving/fog lights at Walmart that go for under $20.
They have a metal adjustable bracket so you can make them as effective as possible.
Mine are welded to the chassis but can be screwed under the teardrop to keep them out of harms way and view.
They are helpful for when your backing into a spot in the dark. You still need a spotter to warn of any hazards.

I've never used reverse lights on my t or ttt builds, but that doesn't make it right or wrong.

Typically my taillights have been bright enough to light up my campsite when backing in. But I don't need much light.

I can see where if you need more light, a reverse light would be wonderful. I would consider an LED version, to match my taillights... something like this...

After spotting a trailer backing in during the night with a flashlight I decided backup lights were in my future. I went with the $20 lights from Walmart.



The chrome quality isn't very good as they are rusting now. But they are functional and really light up the area when backing up.

I'm putting backup lights on my trailer since the taillight's that will go on have them incorporated. They came off a vehicle they are like a jeeps taillight.

I think they are a good idea and once in a while they are really needed. My teardrop does not have any backup lights. Once, I had to put a coleman lantern on the picnic table at the back of the campsite to see and have a reference for backing in-It was too dark otherwise.

Because I need to back up my trailer on searches in the middle of night out in the bush, it is must for me. They are very light weight, non rust and 55 watts each... cost under $20 for the pair.

Another helpful item for backing up is amber clearance lights on the front of the fenders.
I can see where the trailer is going by watching the LED lights. Danny

I knew I forgot something.....
I can see back-up lights coming in very handy for backing into a dark campsite or even getting into the driveway at home after dark.
Any good waterproof lights would work, I'd look for something that has a solid finish on them so they won't rust. Be sure to leave some extra wire, just in case one gets damaged, you can make a splice in the wire.

I have a nice magnet mount 12 volt flood light so I could just run a wire with a plug and then only plug it in when I need it. Then it would not be out in the weather to rust or get damaged.

I wired in a relay, triggered by the backup light circuit, in addition to the switches that are on the lights themselves.
That way, I can use them as "load out lights" ....lighting the area behind the trailer when loading the sound equipment into the trailer after an event.....as well as back-up lights when backing up to the garage to unload.

Uhh trailer back up lights work pretty good for back lights on your trailer I just cut some holes and installed clear lights that matched the factory LED red tail lights.. Most any trailer place should sell them
