Double bed with bunks

Postby CJGFX » Thu Mar 01, 2012 7:47 am

Well all being well tomorrow our cars getting fitted with it's tow bar ad then we can start on our long awaited trailer :D
We'd like to keep the design to a traditional TearDrop shape, though as we would like a double mattress and some how get a couple of small bunks in too for the kids, the designing is not going to be easy. We have a foot print of around 10' X 4' for the body of the caravan so hopefully we can do something with in that space. We have been looking at something like the 'Camp Inn' 'Raindrop' camper with it's cleaver double bunks at the front. But does anyone have any experience or see any teardrops with bunks in?
We've been looking around for a while and not seen any to give us some ideas......

PLEASE HELP :worship:

You can take a look at my build, just click on the rotating picture below my name. The body length is longer than you are planning, but should give you some ideas.

translation:
I saw several who had a berth on the main mat. What I did was create a sleeping area that I call the attic. You could do that easily for the second examines the foot bed.

Several people described the teardrop camping with their children - usually by placing them in a tent. Perhaps some may prefer to have the space for their children in their caravan, especially when they are younger. This conception of caravan tries to do that.

It seems absurd to build a caravan to suit your children and then outgrows their cabins in height before they do so in the attitude. If the sleeping children on this design is sized to accommodate children up to teenagers annually. By then it would be a tight pressure on the pitch but, hey, kids are adaptable. The children sleep through the caravan on a bunk high (with a detachable safety bar), while the adults sleep in the lengthwise with their feet under the bunk of children.

The trailer body is 12 ft. x 6 ft. x 4 ft., and its profile is loosely based on the Small / Modernist. The width of caravan is not as much determined by the length of the berth of children, but by the width of the berth in adults between the wheel - if the body is any less than 6 ft wide generally, this berth will be less than 4 feet wide to 40% of its length.

The curved body provides space for a generous closet before the cabin of an adult and a really spacious kitchen - a large cooler longitudinally attacks on riders and share loads of Cabinet space. It ay room for a front compartment with generous use of the kitchen that accommodates 12 Water tank 12v battery and a woman and still has space left on for one unit or furnace ACCOUNT.

A dropped floor was well included and part of the bunk of children can be hinged down to create two facing settees - in a 4 ft. body height of this arrangement is not spacious but will probably be welcome on the cold or wet days.

A single chassis, based on the design of Wild Goose, is used with the square longitudinal and transverse angle. The design is shown with a twist axis Dextre, but could use a pin dropped on the leaf spring.

This is how I am planning to build my next camper. Going to be a standy/slouchy style tear w/ sleeping for 2 adults and 2 kids. The front bench will transform into bunkbeds, however I do not have all of the details worked out since it will be a year before I can even start building.

With the outside looking something like this:

Thanks all for there suggestions. However due to the width of the width of our chassis, the idea that John has used seems to be the one for us. I think as it saves precious weight and coincidentally I drew up something similar over the weekend and when the kids get bigger they can go in a tent on the side. If anyone has any further suggestions please don't hesitate to tell?

Thanks again.

Looking at his set up that would be a good way to go. Good luck and looking forward to the pictures.
