That picture brings back a funny memory. In 1965 my family went on a one month long trip from NJ to California. One leg of our trip was through death valley. We had some gallon jugs of water, and one of those canvas bags just like in the picture. My father was so nervous that the car would overheat, he would not allow any of us to drink any of the water. Of course we got through Death Valley and never used a drop of water for the car.

It's been almost 50 years, and we still tease my dad about not drinking the water.

We used to camp in Eastern Washington in the 50s & 60s.
My dad always had the water bag hanging from the front of the car.
I remember it being the best water. (Anything cool tasted good)

I was in Death Valley at about that time with my Dad and Mom. We had blown acouple of tires already and this is before we had any air onditioning so we are driving along in the heat with the windows down when my brother absentmindedly with his arm out the window and his hand on the roof starts rapping the roof. My Dad slams on the brakes and pulls over to the side of the road thinking he had blown one more tire. For the rest of the trip either myself or one of my two brothers would start rapping on the roof just to get to Dad. Sure was hot down in the valley. We had the bag full of water hanging off the front of the car just like most of the cars driving by. Like you said, it was along time ago.

I remember seeing those when I was young. I had no idea they still made them.

Out on the Idaho Snake River plain/desert we would drive out there back in the 50's 60's. We and the sheep outfits would usually have them hanging on the rear view mirrors. Still remember the taste of that water and the feel of the metal spout. And the green moss growing on the side of the bag.

Lots of Water Bags down here in Oz.
Come summer they can be very handy out on the tracks.

I found it!! It's a "Safari water Bag" with a Lion on the front. I think I have had it since the late 60's or early 70's, Cool...
I will take a picture and add it to the thread. 8)

Don't allow me to rain on your parade.
Looked up the site. Seems they want fifty two dollars per bag with a minimum order of two bags.
There's got to be a more reasonable supplier. Sorry, looks like a nice addition to camping or traveling
in dry hot parts of the country.
