THANKS!
Do you think I could get away without any additional diagonals to support the extra long tongue?
Because of the fact that the tongue tube is now made thicker and stronger by "doubling" up in the way you mention?
Have others done this successfully without additional supports?
I was considering much the same but thought I would need to add diagonals as well.
Even to the extent that I was considering adding more length and width to the basic rectangular frame as well.
I want to od this as simply a possible, of course, but still be safe.

If I can find a suitable candidate that fits snuggly I would purchase a 3 - 4 foot section and another 15 inches of the actual sample of the existing tongue tube. Slide the undersized piece in the existing tube and bolt thru then ad your extention and bolt it as well. I personally would entertain using two reciever pins for one of these connections then if I felt the need I could easily and quickly remove the coupler and there by reduce the potential for possible theft. I have seen this exact same thing done on several of the removable tongue builds right here on the forum.
