It's difficult to predict the behavior of the insane.

I learned this during my "stints" in the insane asylums.

Cheers,

Not being one to 2nd guess insanity....I think it's almost peaked....I'll go 340$. Check the high number bidders, some have bid on lots of stuff recently and a lot of it in the last hour. I'd bet this is going to be a Japanese market thing. Who knows....but if this guy has one...they do exist in the wild, just gotta beat the bushes to find one. Doug

The present high bid makes me shake my head. I only paid $400 for my 68 Scotty and could camp in that.

Just my opinion, but based on the quality of the paint on the fount, showing minor wear in all the right places, and the condition of the frame on it, showing minor use, chances are it's an original. I've got a couple with a vent in that condition, not that color, but much older than that lantern. This is probably one of those things that someone picked up using their Gold Bond stamps and then never really used it much. As a side note...the most likely porcelain company to do any re-coating, will not do any Gold Bond items unless they are supplied with an original Gold Bond vent to begin with. A Gold Bond stove on the other hand can be faked quite easily. Doug

Hi all!

Well, where I come from this is what we call a pretty yellow lantern. As of this morning it is at $300 with 5 days left. I think we've seen the initial burst of bidding, it's going to coast a day or so, then will be a bidding free-for-all the last 3-4 hours. I have applied my guessticalating matrix and postulate about $428.00.
