Jerome,

I don't mean to sidetrack this thread, but can you tell me more about your avatar. Did you build that?

Mike...

P.S. Back to the thread...

Hi Mike,

Yes and no to the build question. In my album you can see before and after pics of the old Jim Dandy style teardrop. I bought it as a project that was pretty complete but needed a lot of TLC. I painted everything inside and out after I got it cleaned up and made a few structural repairs. After a while (a year or so) I decided I wanted a rustic look so changed the appearance, I covered the walls with old cedar fence boards and the roof and front hatch with used corrugated iron roofing. The wall covering and the roof covering are not structural and the old JIm Dandy is sound underneath. Lots of fun while towing, camping and at gatherings. For some reason most people claim to have never seen another one quite like it.

I am looking at gathering the materials to build my teardrop. I was thinking that I could just put a bit of office carpeting on top of the plywood deck in the interior, although it may be a bit of a waste and extra weight since the matress will cover the entire interior. for the galley floor part I would like to lay done some wood patterned vinyl so that I can clean it easier.

Yeah, I ended up just staining the floor of the teardrop. Like you said, the mattress is going to cover the floor, so there is no reason to make it heavier with linoleum or anything else.

I got a very nice remnant of linoleum. Easy to install and easy to clean.

In Todah 3, I used indoor/outdoor capet from Lowes, fastened down with strategically placed screws. It is relatively light weight. I didn't know if I'd like carpet. I usually stain the floor and use Helman's spar urethane. The floor was easier to sweep. ...but I did like the carpet;it is great insulation too.
