Hi GPW,

Yeh, I know about Louisiana, I've got some relatives that live in the
Raceland area - some of the hurricane stories they tell... Anyway ,at
times you guys need submarines on wheels...

I agree, just for a smaller continuous ventilation the small fan ideas
could be worth it. And RE: droid_ca's PVC pipe idea/mention - I saw
once on a web site, somewhere, sometime, where a guy was advocating
making [decoratively done with furniture finishing] tall skinny
'reverse corner chimneys' out of 1x4s and putting the computer fans
at the top and bottom as a way to recirculate the hotter heated air
that collects at the ceiling during heating season down to the floor. No
reason they couldn't be used in the reverse in AC season. Just put one in
each corner of the room and it would help some with better heating/
cooling efficiency - top and bottom outlets angled to help in the airflow
in and out. 3-4in diameter PVC could easily substitute for the square
'chimney' tube made out of 1x4s.

Coincidental Trivia: And up north [where i'm from originally] they used
to use @ a 60watt incandescent bulb in an insulated small enclosure
around any water/sewer pipes in conjunction with or in place of heat
tapes on the lines in the winters - whatever worked to keep them from
freezing - on houses with crawl spaces or mobile homes set upon
blocks. A very similar use to the 40W bulb to dispel humidity. I wonder
what the eventual demise of the incandescent bulb be replaced with
for these uses?

Onward with the airflow!

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

I'm lucky enough to be able to store my Road Foamie inside so the only time I have worries from rain water sheeting in would be driving in a storm. However, that curb idea sounds like good insurance anyway. All I think I'll need are longer mounting screws. I'll have to look at it tomorrow but I can't imagine it'd be that difficult. Thanks for the good idea, Norm!!!

Because I will be using my tear a great deal on dusty gravel/dirt roads, I am considering having intake vents with an automotive type air filter (maybe even vacuum filter) with a fan to draw the air into the tear. I will then close an exhaust vent, slightly pressurizing the trailer when I'm traveling. I'm hoping that this will prevent dust intrusion. Has anyone out there tried anything like this?

Just a though Corwin, but you're going to want to be able to seal your rig up anyway so you don't get wasps, mice, etc while it's being stored. My fresh air intake will likely be either a threaded cap or a waste valve so it's plugged except when I need to use it.
I too will be using my rig on unserviced logging roads so dust is an issue I'm thinking about as well. A forward facing vent like the clamshell GPW posted would passively pressurize the interior while you are running.

I decided to go with sealing the trailer tight because the trailer will always be in the tow vehicle's dust cloud (dust is one of my wife's asthma triggers). Seemed like the simplest solution but I don't see why your fan idea wouldn't work.

Just like you, I'm sealing up as tight as possible so I'll have control over the ventilation that I get. I figured the filter on the inlet would keep out any pests and screens on the outlet for the same. I was considering a computer fan (reliable, long lasting, low amperage draw, 12v.) PVC piping/fittings for inlet/outlet/ductwork ... cheaper and more available parts locally, and it could be capped if I needed to. It would have the added benefit of being able to leave it operating when in storage as well. I can't stand those musty smells that inevitably develop whenever a space is closed up for any amount of time.
