413e Stove....Houston we have a problem!

Postby ChristopherS » Sun Jun 17, 2012 1:39 am

Okay so I bought the 413e from the same site I bought the big cabin stove. The Cabin stove is still a project but I couldn't pass up the deal for $4. The issue I am haveing is when I light it it burns for roughly 10 seconds and then snuffs itself out. I heard this is a generator problem but is there something that I can do with vinegar to clean it. I took everything apart and it seems to be in very good condition it is just black from being used. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Is it holding presure in the tank? If you pump more presure inthe tank after it is lit does it continue to run? Are you flipping the lever down after it is warmed up? If not you will lose presure and have to much air running lean.

Good luck,Scott

Another thing to check is that the generator is fully seated in the venturi. With some stoves that means the handle must be flipped up.

Okay so I flip the lever up put a match on the burner open the valve up and it will light. The tank is holding pressure but the flame doesn't turn blue I have orange flame ups. When I do try to turn the valve down it seems like it puts itself out. Last night I took the generator apart and the half closest to the burner is really black so I thought maybe this was the laquer problem since I have no idea how long it has been sitting.

It should burn yellow with lots of flames until the generator gets warmed up sometimes depending upon outside temp it might take a minute or two. I learned not to rush the process. After flame settles down turn lever down. You might have to turn the valve down to get the flame to burn blue. Give the tank a few pumps and it should be good to go. IMHO stoves like lanterns each have a different personality. Are there flames any place other than the burner? Black on the generator spring is normal, if a lot of carbon is present, you might have to give it a good soaking in vinegar or citric acid. I use 1 pack of non sweetened kool-aid lemonade and a couple of cups boiling water. Let soak until cool and use steel wool on spring and rod being careful not to bend wire on rod. Good luck and post back to let us know if that works.

It sounds lie to me you fuel/air tube in the tank is plugged up.
