New TTT from Folsom, Ca

Hey all!

I've been lurking here way too long and decided it's time to join in the fun!
A few considerations in my design include:
-simple, quick build. (not such a mechanical and technical guy...)
-must be able to haul my 13 foot Huron Wood and Fiberglass Canoe without blocking any entryway or galley doors.
-maximum internal storage and living space. I do a lot of boondocking, stealth, and Walmart/truck stop camping; therfore a galley, however incredible and awesome they are, was not in the cards for me as I need to be able to access and prepare food without standing in the parking lot getting strange looks.
-great insulation for winter camping and noise reduction.
-a big plus I hadnt considered originally was the square top allows for a Shadyboy awning system to be mounted level and high enough to be usable.
-of course I can't deny the 'cuteness' of a traditional teardrop design so I added some paint in an attempt to add some style. ;) I haven't quite figured out how to post pics in my posts so please see my album for pics for now.

Looking forward to many great conversations with you folk's!!

Welcome Jeff -

We had similar aspirations. My build was straightforward, quick and cheap as well and designed to carry my kayak, bike and all the other sport gear I have.

I follow some of the boondocking, van dwelling, and stealth camping Yahoo groups and find a few good ideas there but nowhere near as useful and focused as here.

Do you actually cook inside? Any onboard power sources - solar, generator? I think I see a battery box on your tongue.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I do most of my cooking outside when I can with a backpacking stove but when I'm feeling particularly risky, I have been known to boil pasta inside, especially on cold nights. I, of course, keep the windows wide open in that case with a small fire exstinguisher and water very close.

Currently I'm using a small 18 watt Solar panel to trickle charge my deep cycle battery which has always been plenty of power to run my speakers, led lights and charge any ipods or cell phones that need it. I'm actually pretty excited because in about 10 days I'll be installing about 80 watts worth of Uni-solar flexible panels on the tonneau cover of my Chevy Avalanche and adding another battery in hopes of running a small refrigerator and Laptop. I'll include pics of that custom job as soon as I can!
