What’s the big need for DC anyway ... ??? Tents don’t have DC, or AC either .... Just camping , not living in it... But then again , my camping has always been rather Spartan ... Last thing I want is contact with the real world ...

I live in the humidity capital of the world. Between that and heat, a fan, at a minimum is required. Granted the foamie is mostly for sleeping and getting in outta the rain, but I do think some concessions to where you live and how you intend to use the trailer are needed. I will have both 110 and 12v. Why, because I want to be able to charge my gadgets and run a fan or ac. Plus when at festivals, having dinner simmering in the crock pot is a great thing. Flashlights certainly work, but if I'm putting this much effort into the thing, I will personalize it. Not as much as my first pie-in-the-sky plans, but to my needs and wants.

I think everyone does that. It's why TDs are never done.

I know I'm putting a lot more into my Foamie than most folks, but as Bonnie said, the final designs and systems are a reflection of how I intend to use it. I don't camp where there is electricity so no 120 AC but there are lighting and music needs. I enjoy playing my music (softly) when I camp and I like not having to worry about flashlights and lanterns. I put a well equipped galley in the back because cooking up great meals is a big part of the camping experience for me and the beverage station is there because it ain't camping if there's no beer!!! There's a lot of storage in the Road Foamie because I'd like to keep everything packed and ready to go. Just fill up with water, put the propane on the tongue, hitch it to the TV, make a quick stop for groceries and we're on our way. I can't do that with a tent. It currently takes virtually an entire half day to load up the truck to go camping, don't get me started about setting up tents and the like. My Road Foamie will allow me to really enjoy all the things about camping I enjoy. I know it's a LOT more stuff than others would put into their Foamie, but it works for me and since I'm building it, I don't think I should have to compromise. Absolutely, yes, it complicates the build and sometimes I definitely made things more complex than I had to. If I had gone simple, I could be done by now but I think it's been said around here before... "To each, his or her own"

I'm just a few dollars and a month or two until I can make the Road Foamie camp-able and then a few more dollars and a few more weeks until it's "complete".

BTW, as complicated as I did make this thing, I am certain that I could not have even thought about pulling this off, if it were not for the good advice and kind words of encouragement from all of you. Thank you... :applause: :applause: :applause:

Now it's time to get some more work done on this thing

I think I'm finally getting close to done... I ordered my fiberglass cloth, epoxy and a bunch of electrical bits and pieces. As soon as the glass and epoxy get here, I hope to start glassing the panels. I've got a bit more stuff to do before I can glass, I've got to lay in the electrical wiring in the ceiling panels and then apply the lauan interior skin. join the three roof panels, and place the fresh water inlet into the side, figure out where the license plate is going and run that wire for the light and set in a hard point for it. Once done with that it will be , plumbing, assembly, paint and interior detail (mostly cabinetry face frames and door work). I truly believe I can be done by late July if I work diligently. Here's to the light at the end of the tunnel.  Here's hoping it's not an oncoming train!!!

I'll drink to that, Mel ! :wine:
Great to see you're making progress, other commitments have temporarily turned off the light at the end of my own tunnel so I'll build vicariously through your project instead, lol.

Those "other" commitments seem to get in the way a lot but there's not a lot you can do but work around them. Your build is coming along great. I'll keep an eye out for when it's back on track

I like that explanation. You'll get there.

I hope to see it and you at the Unionville, NV gathering!

Looking forward to seeing your finished build Mel. Been following this thread from the start, really like the lines and layout you've created. And I'm still intrigued by the whole foamie concept.

The biggest limitation my wife has put on our camping destinations is that it MUST have a flushing toilet. I believe I looked at Unionville and saw none. So don't count us in. I hope to do some camping in the fall (the Road Foamie should be done and my wife's work should slow down a bit) and if there are gatherings in Nevada or NorCal I hope to be there.

I'd love to see your build in person too, when my wife sees your custom floor I think I'll end up with a new project on my hands :? :?

Thanks! I really like the foam as a building concept and if I decide to do another it will definitely be a Foamie. I may do a few things differently but I'll post that when I'm done. Maybe, I'll see you and Sharon at a gathering...

A portapotti doesn't count ?
My wife doesn't want a toilet she has to pull out of a cupboard to use...I guess us guys are a bit spoiled by needing only to find a tree.

OK, I know everybody has their Favorite porta’ potty ... They do seem convenient .. and the best my wife can expect is a porta potty and a privacy curtain ... Not getting into various tanks , not on a Foamie ... And other “facilities” will likely be at hand ... so this would only be for "those moments" ...
I have little experiences with them ... What do you guys use and why do you like it ... I’m thinking the Big issue is cleaning ... :NC
