I guess it depends on how you spend your day. If a lot of time is spent inside of it then, I think having a trundle/murphy style bed would be good. If the majority of your time is outdoors then I think having the bed down is fine. Wish I could have figured out a way to get good access around the bed when turned crossways. Couldn't figure out how to turn a queen bed sideways and still allow the wife and I our "sides" of the bed.  Would have created more useable floor space. But I agree... wider is better. Not sure how people work with a 4' wide trailer. :frightened: :frightened:

Mel, a 4 footer is “cramped” for me ... I can’t imagine the wife and I in there together ... not after 37 years of marriage ..    ...
As you’ve probably surmised by my ramblings, my need is purely for EVAC , and perhaps the odd visit to friends out of town (rare) ... So the trundle bed /sofa seems the best setup , providing additional floor space during the day ...
A place to relax , when needed ,Sleep , hang out (the wife loves to read , can do that all day ... ) A place to be in Private , away from the “madness” ... Will have AC, 5 day cooler , porta potty , and a couple bins for storage , besides what cabinetry gets installed ... simple electrical system , 50’ GFI extension cord , and flashlights ... although I do have a solar panel kit (HF) ... and a solar oven and Hibachi .
The more I plan , the more clearly is defined what I really need, and what would just be unnecessary ...

The really Good part is I still have a camper top on the Pickup TV , so have LOTS of extra storage ... Might even be enough for the wife’s Luggage ? :o ;)

Oh No !!! Not another drawing ... 94567

The floor frame which will be Oak cross members , and a lesser wood for mounting to the trailer ...since it overhangs the trailer frame by ~ 8-10” on each side ...figuring the Foamie shell will be light enough to be supported by this ...

Yup!! As I am nearing the completion of Road Foamie, I've figured out that the shell itself is super simple. It's all the stuff you want that takes up the time and effort

REALLY DANGEROUSLY!!!    A comment like that would get me a very cold shoulder. Would be a good idea to spend a night on the couch... :? 8)

So very true. I'm going on 25 years of marriage next year and she still amuses me with the way she thinks and the things she does. You can't make up that kind of funny. Strangest part is they all do that. My co-worker and I think we might be married to the same girl.

Glen I'm going with straight lines for ease of build speed and less material cost. I'm sticking with curve on short height cabins and straight wedge on standie models. Just finally decided to have a standie. It's a hybrid of my toyhauler cabin.

Steve, nothing wrong with the straight lines and a lotta' things right about it !!! In keeping with the Foamie philosophy ... Cheap and Easy .... kinda' like my first wife ... :o

Now this is just an odd factoid ... did you know the more North you are people prefer rounded shapes , more toward the equator , more angular shapes are popular ... Don’t know why ... just the way it is ...

My guess would be that it has to do with the types of building materials available at hand and the type of weather that is trying to be protected against.

Although I have seen plenty of examples of bowed stick and leaf huts in tropical regions (not in person, but in museums and on the telly) that look an awful lot like igloos.

Steve (Linux), I do agree with GPW on one of his earlier posts; the added effort to curve the roof might pay for itself in customer appeal, whereas the boxy simple look might give the customer the impression that the product is "cheap" and cause suspicion (unfounded, of course). I think that it would be a mistake to assume you can increase your profits by cutting corners (...er, or is that by leaving the corners on) and then expecting the customer to pay as if it had curves (not saying that this was your intent...just saying). If your strategy is to build faster to sell more units while passing that savings onto the customer, helping to sell more units quicker, then that sounds like a good strategy to me... and it would be good PR to advertise that to your potential customers.

If'fen it were me, I'd pay a fair bit extra for the curved look just for the added eye appeal. I guess it all depends on your customer base and intended market.

I’m thinking anything that even remotely resembles a space shuttle ,whether real or Trek, would sell quickly ... a sorta’ streamlined Box ... :o  The paint /trim is the real secret to getting a “look” ! ... Just thinking “marketing” ...

Well, after much shopping around , the 10’ X 2’ X 10” blocks for 20 bucks each , seem to be the Thriftiest option so far ... May have to mosey on down to Lafitte today ( the home of the Pirate ) and see what’s up ...
And being bead board , it will be a great Test of that too ... (Although I’ve used bead board many times in the past for plane wings and never had a problem so I feel very confident )

Figured I’d set up a table slicer, and just slide the blocks through the hot wire to slice the required thickness...
The Math ... :o If I slice a 10” thick block into 3” thick slabs , that works out to 60 sq. ft of foam . 2” thick slabs would be 100sq. ft. ... for 20 bucks ..... compared to the 32 sq. ft of the extruded foam , which is close to twice the price around here... The bead board is clearly the bargain here ... ;) 94759
