Newbie from Holland

Hi all,
I've been following this forum for quite a while now, and liked the idea of a teardrop right from the beginning. I live in the South of Holland, right on the Belgian border. Even though many people go caravanning, teardrop trailers are not very common over here, in fact they are a rarity!
At this point I am still collecting various bits and pieces, I do have a braked, rubber-sprung axle, the tongue, and some small bits and pieces.
Weight will be a major point to consider, as my tow vehicle is a Burton which weighs only 450 kg (1000 lbs). The maximum weight it can tow (by law) is 400 kg (880 lbs), that is with a braked axle.
I am planning on using the concept of the New Cub, with a very simple steel frame, and relatively thin plywood for the floor and walls.
Because the Burton has a classical look to it, I will use a profile with classical lines too, maybe draw one myself...

Here's a picture of my tow car:

The Burton is a small Dutch kit car, based on a Citroen 2CV, with an air-cooled 2 cylinder 602cc engine of 30 hp. Total weight is around 1000 lbs.

There are a couple other forum members planning/doing just what you
are planning. If you look around in the Build journal section you may
come across them. I believe they are both in the UK, and there may
also be another Dutch or Belgian member too doing the same.

It never hurts to have multiple sources of information. And this link

Don't be af raid to think outside of the box a little.........how about building your new trailer out of a 2CV. ?????

Yes, yes! I vote for the front fender, but the rear fender would also be acceptable.

Ooh ooh, and the tongue box should be shaped like the front grille profile.

Nice to see, an other Dutch is building. I live in Nieuwerkerk aan den Ijssel, Zuid Holland and I have built a TTT. Not realy a teardrop, just a little bigger. With the shape of a T@B. I used for the frame the chassis of a Alpen Kreuzer, complete with brakes, jacks and suspensions. Totaly weight is 550 KG. I've been camping with it for about four years now, but recently I got a birthdaypresent from my parents. That's a 15 year old Fendt Safir QK 410.
