They look great and even with an unauthorized tool used the screws looked torqued to spec. Almost done and ready to camp.

Pictures of the rear cabinets.

Nice view of the rear cabinets and the top shelf.

There are no dividers or shelves in the rear cabinets at this time. The "Boss" wants to try a few ideas first so we plan to add them later.

That's what the boss lady wanted so that's what I built. This baby has more trunk space than and old Cadillac. I still need to install the counter top and there is more room under there. I bet we can haul a lot of bodies, I mean stuff in there. 8)

That reminded me about the Tim russert book where he talks about buying his dad a car.
3 suitcases and 2 cases of beer
buy his father a new car for his 75th birthday.

Maybe a Mercedes, Cadillac or even a Lexus, the son thought. But his father opted for a Crown Victoria, a “cop car,” as his son described it in “Big Russ and Me.”

In the book, Russert describes the scene at Jack Adkins Ford on Abbott Road as the salesman showed off the newly polished black car:

“Isn’t she beautiful?” Big Russ said. He opened the trunk. “You can get three suitcases in there, and two cases of beer.”

As we were heading home, I said, “Dad, you could have had whatever you wanted—a Cadillac, a Mercedes, a Lexus—but you chose a Crown Vic. Do you really think it’s better?”

“No, of course not,” he replied. “But if I came home with a fancy Cadillac, do you know what people would say? 'His kid made it, and now he’s too big for us.’ This is who I am.”

Way too much stuff cutting into my trailer building time lately, but a little more progress. All the roof framing around the fan and lights is done. The first piece of the headliner is in. That 1/8" luan doesn't bend around corners as easily as I'd hoped, at least not when you are doing it by yourself. Fortunately the other 2 pieces are fairly flat so they should be a little easier to install. The two holes are for reading lights.

The brad nailer is faster than using a hammer, but it comes at a price. It leaves marks by every brad. Hope to cover them with a little filler and varnish or maybe just leave them for that rustic look. :D Once the rest of the headliner is in I'll be using some 1/4" quarter round to fill in the gap along the wall.

Trailer is Looking Great! Good to see some fellow Utah Builders. Your build is making me consider the cookie cutter design. It looks real nice. I am going to start my build in a few weeks, if you need a few hours of free help let me know. I would love to get an idea of what I am getting myself into.

Cheers,
Chris

Have to add that sometimes we butt heads a bit, but it is all just trying to be helpful and a passion for what we do. In the end this forum is made up of the most helpful and, dare I say, polite group.

Kudos to you, sir, and to Mike for the effort that it takes to make all this possible. I love this site. :D

Chris,

Thanks for the offer to help out. We're doing good on the trailer at the moment, but will certainly keep you in mind if we need a hand.

Things have been going slow but we were making some progress. We installed some simple door supports on the interior cabinet doors to aid in loading/unloading. They are just a piece of wire in part of an R/C airplane nose gear steering block. Simply open the door and swing the wire in place to hold it open.

The roof was installed a week ago and still needs the edges trimmed. Then we can stain and seal it.

Things were going well up to that point but I've run into a bit of trouble. I'd spent the last 2 months training for a metric century (62 mile) bicycle ride. The ride was last Saturday and the first 10 miles were great. It was at that point I took in a nasty spill and when I tried to get up I couldn't use my right arm. Anytime I move it I get a searing pain in my shoulder. My Dr suspects an injury to the rotator cuff or a pinched nerve and has me in a sling to limit my using it. I had an MRI on Thursday and have to wait until next week for the results. We're praying that it doesn't require surgery to fix.

So sorry to hear about your crash and I hope surgery will not be necessary. Please be sure and let us know what you find out from the MRI. I will be saying a prayer for your quick recovery.

Your teardrop is looking great. The cabinets came out beautiful. You're really getting close now!!

Well bummer. The Dr called yesterday and confirmed that I have torn 2 tendons on my right rotator cuff. He's trying to get me scheduled in the next week or so. The trailer will be on hold for a bit, like 3-6 months (or longer) while I recover/rehab.
