Vent Fans

Hello, we're thinking of a new vent with a fan or a new vent made out of metal.

I have the Ventline and it seems to help. I recently asked someone in the know to look and it and tell me how it compares to the fantastic fan, and was told the FF moved more air but was noisier.

I forgot to mention, if you like Fantastic Fans which one do you like? There's a lot of options there.

We installed a MaxxFan Deluxe model in our build. It has a built-in Rain cover. Considering that we have been rained on during every camping trip this year, it's performance has been outstanding.

We rented a Little guy trailer last year that had a Fantastic Fan and when it rained the first night we had to close the fan, not a comfortable night!

After that we made sure there was an awning over the trailer, it was a PITA. The Maxx Fan Deluxe is more expensive, but we found ours on sale for a reasonable price. I know the Fantastic fans have quite the following, and if you already plan to have the trailer under cover or if you camp in arid climates it should be just fine.

I've had 2 trailers with Fantastic fans and I'm putting one in my tear, both of the others were in pop ups and they worked great. One was the expensive FF that had the rain sensor and worked good and other was a 3 speed with rev and I just put a cover over the vent for when it rained and never had an issue. The one I picked up off ebay for the tear is a 8000 series create a breeze. Did not cost alot compared to othersand you can convert to a 6600R with a kit if you decide youwant all the bells and whistles,

I love my Fantastic fan. I to was getting rained on so I purchased one of thesehttp://www.fantasticvent.com/products/ultrabreeze.html from fantastic fan and now I am as dry as can be. I did not permanently instal it I just set it on top of my tear when it is going to rain.It works like a charm!

Yeah that's what I mean. I spent a little more and I don't need to carry along a big plastic hood ($45) to put over my fan and I don't have to put my camper under shelter. I don't mean to disrespect the fantastic fan club but there are alternatives. I have camped with both fans ( 7 nights under a fantasticfan, 10 nights under the Maxxfan) and I know which I prefer and what works for our camping set-up.Other peoples results and needs may differ.

How much clearance does the FF need in the open position? I'm wondering if I could fit my roof top tent over it, which sits on a yakima type rack plus about 1.5" extruded aluminum rail. So maybe 5" above roof surface.

I myself would like to get a small roof fan as I have a convertible Tracker and would like to put it in the hardtop so when I have my dogs I can leave them inside with plenty of air

Mark I will measure tomorrow but I can tell you most fans have to open 2" before they will activate the fan blades. Not sure why but that is the case with FF and others that I have looked at.

I have a fantastic fan, with out the fan. The housing has two three speed computer case fans. Quiet very low power draw and enough air movement that we do not run then on high.

Are the computer fans enough to keep it cool inside or do you need air conditioning for that?

I chose the Fantastic Vent because it moves more air.

I don't mind the noise because I like sleeping with "Grey Noise".

Anybody have any clever ideas for modifying the fantastic fan cover? I want to put a roof tent on top that doesn't have enough clearance for the tipped up cover. So if I modded it to slide or come off in another way, that might work...
