Not anything unique...Its just a triangulated arm with two pivot points for "alignment" and a air bag.... Pretty common concept on some of the newer cars for rear suspension when car uses front wheel drive... Something similar has been used on rear of VW beetle since "69" only it also incorporates a drive axle and torsion bar........

Dale,

and how do you think this compares to the leaf spring system equal or less so.

here is a closer look at one like it but with more shock system.

this is my favorite trailer the T-Van with different kind of galley.

with a little different suspension from the down under.

I find it funny that there is a chain for a travel limiter, if one needed a travel limiter an nylon/synthetic "strap" material would be a lot better choice... Synthetic straps have been used in off road and racing world for years for travel limiters...And the shocks are at such a low angle they are useless....

For a shock to be useful it has to be at about same angle as direction of axle travel.... For every degree a shock is off the line of travel of axle it loses something like 5-8 percent efficiency ( don't quote me on numbers because I have do do the research again to get correct percents) but by time shock is at 45 degrees to angle of travel it no longer functions....

Actually this style setup was discussed here many months ago ( maybe a year of more) in depth so If you can find the old thread there is a ton of "concept" and actual design information.... Several off road/expedition/trek "gear"trailers use this concept... Its ok, serves it purpose for rough country where ground clearance is desired and overall height is not issue, but probably less practical than a bar axle for most trailers that will not ever get off the asphalt and want the low profiles appearance aspect... This link below is not one I has in mind, bit its another "discussion"...
