Years ago we were at Simonton Cove on San Miguel Island (off the coast of Santa Barbara). We walked by a big "rock" and decided it was a "photo op". So three of us stood by the "rock" while one got ready to snap the picture.
Then the "rock" moved. It was a huge bull elephant seal.
We quickly got over our desire to have our picture taken by that particular "rock". Next time we'll look a bit more closely. It's surprising how much a big bull elephant seal can look like a rock. No kidding.
Cheers,
Gus
