Passing the stupid test

Got home friday from a week long outing on the Oregon coast and we made a quick stop about 25 miles from home.....we were in the trailer and opened the galley and then hopped back in the truck and finished our trip home. When we got home, I discovered that the galley had not been locked or even latched ....I thought Elaine had checked it and she thought I did
...but the good news is that everything made it home intact ....I have two lower doors which swing out which are held closed mainly by the galley hatch so I guess my design passed the stupid test
In the past, I have been accused ( and i won't say by whom ) of overchecking doors and locks and stuff too much....but I don't think I will be accused of that again

I'm just sayin'......double checking stuff does't hurt...knowaddImean??

Everybody passes the stupid test, if they deny, they are telling lies. I too have learned the hard way to lock the galley properly. Paper towels unwind providing a long white tail for all to see. Try that traveling down miles of gravel roads, gravel dust in every nook and granny...... took lots, and lots, and lots, of washing dishes, cubboards, and dry goods after set up in the camp ground!

Not saying I haven't done "stupid". I am guilty of overchecking. Every stop I, walk around the trailer, lift the hitch, feel tires and hubs to check for excessive heat, check doors, and galley to check that they are latched securely, especially at rest areas etc. where people may get overly curious.

Just so you don't feel alone.......

Returning from a gathering I turned off the highway to get gas and a flash went past my passenger side mirror. I looked closely and the teardrop curb side door was not latched.
I only have a simple inside throw bolt on that side so I latch it first then pile the camping stuff in and pile and pile. I was real lucky that the camping chairs were blocking the exit well enough to avoid a long trail of highway litter

I have one of those cartop cargo boxes that I forgot to latch. It open on the road! Fortunately it was empty. Now I always check, double check and check again. I check the trailer even more. We don't all pass, but hopefully we all learn!
