My tiny construction...

Postby Mikka » Wed Sep 26, 2012 4:48 pm

I did not want to put in in the build journal as it is not really a tiny trailer. I have however stolen at least an idea off this forum put out by a gentleman whom I can't remember the name.
I had a small trailer (48"x42" platform) for which I had no use for. At first I had planned to extend the platform, move the axle back etc. etc. to turn it into an ice fishing shack, but found out that it would be too much expensive for the metal to justify the expense.
Then one night, looking at deer blinds, in downed on me! Turn the trailer into a "balemobile" Basically, a replica of a hay bale on wheels :D
Construction started the next morning! It is fully insulated, floor and walls, I made the windown from scatch, they are double sealed pane of glass to avoid condensation and the door was also built from scratch. the walls are of an overall thickness of 2" while the floor is 4". No fancy construction material, just 2x4's ripped to size and and 1/4" OSB.
As for the idea stolen from the gentleman, it was the use of weed fabric (the cloth type) to cover the OSB to waterproof the construction. I found this material very easy to work with and on a test I tried out before, once the paint was dried, it was impossible to separate the cloth from the OSB whitout pulling the OSB apart.
This is not a fancy construction, I could have spent more time to make it fancy, like sanding gown the joints etc. but deer don't care for fancy!
Anyway, iy is always fun to look at pictures, I posted a few and more can be found here. http://smg.beta.photobucket.com/user/Mo ... e%20mobile

I don't really understand your question. In the inside, there will be no moving things once I strap the battery down. On the outside, I fabricated legs that I welded to each corner to ensure it will not rock, I will take a couple pictures of the legs and post them. Raining here and already as dark as a bear's ass outside.

I think rowerwet was asking what are you going to sit on. He didn't realize you had a bench opposite the blind window. This photo should clarify that...

That's really cute and different!

If you should ever want to, I'm betting that you could add a small cot on the diagonal (corner to corner) and maybe get enough length. That way, you could go the night before and get the jump on all the other hunters.

Thanks for sharing! :applause:
