OK, got the official word , tomorrow is the day for rib CNC cutting 8) .... figured while I was buying the plywood , would also get the cedar floor boards (fence boards) and the cross members .. Tried searching for Oak for the X members, but couldn’t find any for a “reasonable” price  ... looked at a few freebie pallets , all too short ... So thinking we’ll just go with PT Pine 2X4s and that should work . Not much overhang in the floor over the frame and the basic shell/will be light ... all the inner weight concentrated more towards the middle floor rather than the walls .

Got some Rustoleum gray spray cans to touch up the non galvanized bits on the trailer , after a thorough wire brushing ... weather is getting tolerable , so all this is a Joy to do ... :D

Can't wait to see the results. Oughta be awesome!!!!

Funny how you mention that your weather is getting tolerable. I'm hoping fall lasts long enough out here so that I can enjoy camping in the Road Foamie without fighting the weather during the next couple of weeks. Leaving the 13th for 10 days of RnR. It was an early fall this year, hope that doesn't mean early winter...   I like winter, I just want it to wait it's turn.

No Snow here ... The nice weather should last till June ... :o Our building season ...

Got everything ready for today .... Rib day !!! And found out the local lumberyard had better and Cheaper plywood than the HD or Loews ... Seems the big box stores are living off their reputation , and not really trying to be competitive... Capitalists

I'm finding the same thing. Our lumber yard stocks better quality (more plies and a thicker face) than either big box store and for equal or better pricing. I guess the big boxes hope you'll pay extra for convenience and won't shop around either

We have RIBS !!!! 8) Will post pics and a YT video , once it gets light enough to find my camera .... :D

A resounding YES on the ply ... The ply I bought at a local lumberyard was MUCH better than anything we’ve seen at HD or L in a Long time .... cheaper too ... Also I was able to pick up some very nice (straight) PT 2X4s for the crossmembers , Clear (no knots) , and Dry .... Very Nice !!!
No more Box stores for me ... grrrrrr!!!!

Can't wait to see how the ribs came out!
And yeah, +1 on the big box stores here too. I prefer dealing with local outlets ( Windsor Ply, Dick's Lumber) and small scale sawyers for my fir and especially cedar.

Now THAT is some fancy cutting. I am really looking forward to following this build. Very interesting. I never cease to be amazed by the ingenuity of the people on this board.

I like the holes in it to reduce weight and the puzzle cut outs. Been think about getting a CNC router for while know. Another reason to get one.

Keep the post coming!!!!!

WD, I did lay out the first rib on the concrete floor , got a little brush and filled an old P nut jar with some T2 ... brushed it on each side of the puzzle’ connections , and assembled the whole thing flat on the floor , left it to dry overnight ... checked it this morning and now it feels like one solid piece  ... I’ll just repeat this process till all the ribs are assembled , and in the meantime , start getting ready to slice those foam blocks ...

But as things happen ,strange things , I was talking to the roofers who were fixing the house roof (Isaac damage) and they said they have pallets of the blue foam and use a “s**tload” of that stuff all the time “ ... so a new resource , may have opened up for foam acquisition ... only thing now , is they want me to make them some portable “Deer camps ", on skids , so that they can haul to a hunting spot and leave it .... so we never know where this will lead huh ??? Funny , they asked if I wanted a whole pallet of foam ... Hmmm??? What could we do with a pallet of foam  :o
