Airline or L track for cargo management?

Postby Kharn » Tue Oct 02, 2012 10:45 am

Has anyone used airline or L track for cargo management on a tear? Examples from a vendor

The working load limits all seem to be over 1klb, so pulling the fasteners through the wall/roof of the tear would be the main hazard. The threaded version could be interesting for securing a roof rack (only problem is each connector requires two hands to undo, so you wouldn't be able to remove a rigid rack solo), and the normal rings could be used to easily anchor tarps or canopies to a tear, in addition to securing cargo during movement.

I'm thinking about four or six spots on the roof for cargo/tarp duty and one or two on the trailer's side for attaching the dog's lead so I don't have to screw her anchor into the rocky parking pad at the state parks anymore.

Those would work well for what you are thinking. Most of the new pickups now have that kind of track as an option with all kinds of track mount accessories.

I get sections of this stuff from work quite often, once it gets a little corroded in spots we have to change it. I plan on putting it on my utility trailer, now you've got me thinking about how it would work for drip rail/anchor.
It doesn't bend very well, and if you get it to fit the curve of most tear roofs, the anchors may not fit in anymore.

Your source is much cheaper than where I got mine from, thanks for the link.
