We're back home now a full three days earlier than planned, mostly due to weather. It was raining everywhere we went. Inside of the trailer stayed nice, dry and cozy but staying in the trailer all day was not our idea of fun. We were also told that it might snow at home before we got home. For once the weather man was right, here is what I woke up to this morning.

The Road Foamie was great! Like I said, the trailer stayed dry, warm and cozy. The trailer tows wonderfully. No worries about the shell blowing off the frame, no worries about winds blowing us across the highway or off any bridges. The only issue is that in the rain the water drips down onto the galley. Nothing happens when towing in the rain, but when parked with the doors open, water drips in constantly. It helps to drop the nose so that it is slightly nose down to allow for drainage but water still drips inside the galley. I think I've figured out a solution and I've also got a list of a lot of little details that need to be finished or small issues that need fixing.
Anywhere, here are some pics of our travels...
Here are our two traveling companions... The toy chocolate poodle (9 lbs) is Moose (my wife's)
Here's Mollie after a long night of keeping raccoons out of our campsite
The both of them added to the warmth of the Road Foamie. Thankfully I had put in a fantastic vent. It did a great job of keeping the temperature right!
Here is the Road Foamie set up in two of the three campsites we visited before heading home.

This is Lake Mendocino

This is in the Redwoods. The ground looks wet because there had been a steady drizzle all day. It was about to get a lot wetter. We estimate that there was a 4 - 6" overnight rainfall. We then spent the next two days at a friends house drying out in Gold Beach, OR. Beautiful weather!!!
It was then onto Umpqua Lighthouse State Park in OR where it rained some more. We did get a dry day of sightseeing in but after going to sleep to a clear starry night, rain woke us up at about 2 am. By 11 am our campsite was a 2inch deep pond. We called it quits!!
Some other pics of the Road Foamie.
This is our galley with the awning set up over the back. Kept us pretty dry during the morning hours. This is dinner being prepared. A poor man's and campers' version of paella. YUMMY!!!

Here's an interior shot from out of the passenger side door of the padded headboard which unfortunately hides the detail work in it. I think it's one of the finer touches in the trailer. The overhead cabinets give us plenty of storage room.

Lastly here's a picture of the front of the cabin again from the passenger side. Lots of cabinets, a heater, a cubbie hole for Mollie and electrical controls which you can't see but it's to the right hand side of the cabinet

All in all, despite the rocky start, a very successful maiden voyage...

A few items need to be finished/fixed before spring rolls around but I have at least 6 months of winter before that happens so I can take a short break from building, brew some beer for future voyages and find a new project to occupy my time. The trailer is in the garage now and has been "winterized". Can't wait for the next trip!!!
