Memory foam comes in several grades and as in most things you usually get what you pay for. I wish my mattress at my house was as good as my memory foam in my tear.

We have Costco 2.5 inch gel memory foam topper made in the USA, placed on top of the 4" foam one. We also have a memoryfoam bed from " bedinabox" an online vendor who sells beds made in USA. I strongly urge you to buy a USA made topper or mattress. The ones we have bought do not smell at all! A couple of years ago I bought a topper from Target that was made in China. It stunk really bad for about 6 months before it finally off-gassed its toxins..

I don't know about that. Joints not working to good. Almost 300 lbs. And have never been in a hammock. Sounds sort of like a "Lucy" skit.

I got a Walmart 6" that can't be beat. Has 4" of foam and egg crate on top. My memory foam needed a mattress heater or it was a rock. I guess I don't put out a lot of body heat...

I usually toss and turn all night when camping. This year I tried out my mummy bag that has a built-in memory foam pad in the bottom. For the first time in years, I slept through the night. I think that I might get a memory topper for the cot in the trailer.

I have been testing out the 1/2 " closed cell pads (diamond plate) we had in our exercise room. 14 nights on it and we sleep great.

I use a 5 inch closed cell foam mattress with a waffle pad on top and love it.....tried a 4 inch memory foam on my bed and it gave me back proplems,,,,so I put it on the bed in the spare room so guests don't stay too long,,,,

Several years ago...Knox foam was the hot set up for a tear...but they are no longer in business. It was a decent product, and came with a zippered covering for it. On the last trailer I did the memory foam thing and then put an egg crate topper on it. It's fine, but like mentioned...in cold weather it can get hard. I've camped down into the 20's with it and no heat in the trailer, (uninsulated walls) other than a Coleman lantern to take the chill off prior to bed. Once in bed, it warmed up...but just the spot I was in. If you rat around a lot at night, you're in for some cold spots. I'll probably get another....they are comfortable and I don't do that much cold weather camping.

I'm thinking, I have an old military blanket that has an oil skin on the exterior and a wool lining, a Korean War thing, it's a cooker! Maybe using that inside up on top of the mattress will help radiate the heat back in the colder temps. If it's going to be real cold...I can always use the down bag.

The real problem anymore is trying to find something that isn't ridiculous on price for foam. I haven't seen a better price for a Queen size than Wally World. Doug

Don't know if they are a real bargain but seemed reasonable. And they have lots of different types. Plus the way I built my first one and will #2 I don't use a one piece mattress. Just the burden I have to to bare.

We have a 4" medium density foam matress in Miss Piggy. And after our first night in her on New Years eve, I am thinking we will get a waffle or egg crate topper?? We found it a little too firm.
Guess we associate camping, with our air bed; that losses air as we sleep and is quite soft by morning.
