I installed 3 pieces of 1/4 inch plywood on the roof of the Command Post, and got the roof opening for the vent fan framed, skinned inside and out, cut, and the vent dry fit. Then I got out the belt sander and beveled the edges where the roof line meets the wall. I would have gotten the roof skin completely installed, but I was short 16 inches of plywood, and my wife informed me that my build budget was exactly ZERO dollars this week and I couldn't buy another sheet of plywood :(
Next weekend I should be able to finish the roof skin, build the A/C mount, and start applying Bondo over the seams and screw heads. :)

Jeff
Don't use bondo. It is talc based and absorbs moisture.
Use a fiberglass based filler, like duraglass or everglass (short strand).
It is harder to sand, especially if you let it sit too long before sanding, but it will dry hard as a rock and is waterproof.

I too, took a rest day.
Did get to the junkyard to search for a blower motor for my air circulation unit. But discoverd that I probably don't have to replace my current motor, but just the control switch and wiring.

Ok, I've never heard of fiberglass based body filler. It makes sense to use a fiberglass product though since I'm going to cover it with fiberglass fabric and epoxy though. Thanks for the tip :)

I woke up at 5:45 am, got dressed and very carefully crept outside to stand on the veranda. It was a good looking morning. Not a hungry animal in sight! beaudy!!
I raced across to the garage, flicked on the welder and had the sparks flying in seconds. :applause: :applause: :applause:
The first weld I ran was purrfect! So was the second and third and the fourth and then......... a starving animal flew in. :( :(
I tried to complete some more welds but all the animals mates arrived by the dozens, (I kid you not!... by the dozens!!)
The few welds that I was able to complete after the first animal arrived are sound but will need to be shaped up with the angle grinder.
The next and last weld for the day looked like the steel had been placed under the chook perch the evening before. It was/is absolutely impossible to weld when you're being eaten alive. I will need to grind this weld off and start again.
Hopefully, I will be able to complete another half hour of welding before the flying piranha arrive :worship:
Such is life. However, I can't complain. I am blessed with the skills I have to build and teach others, I am blessed with enormous patience and an outrageous sense of humor. For everything that I have, I truly thank the Lord my God and always will.
Some people thought my new fly swatter was a tennis racket.

Guday Slow,
I can't put a coat on, the temperature is 102 F with very high humidity. I can't close the doors as the temperature rockets thru the roof. Tomorrow it will be 102 F again and further inland, it will climb to 113 F. Yes, the blue light (UV light) from the welder really sucks the flies in. The welding rods I am using are ones that are made in Australia. They have very little smoke and are very clean. The Chinese ones I use for non structural stuff smoke like a bush fire and the smoke is hard to cope with. I am managing however and will have the welding completed this week. Once that's all done, I can paint the frame and start the woodwork. Can't wait to begin.

Received the new power supply for the XM radio receiver. When the Sirius radio failed I replaced it with an XM that matches Nancy's. Unfortunately the cradle is different and the power plug is a different size so new cradle and power supply from TSS radio.

I added a brake controller and hooked up my electric brakes, and took it for a drive to make sure they work ok.

Sunday was clean up and shovel out day as my garbage guy arrives Monday AM

So I emptied the trash off of the floor of the caboose. It filled a 30 gallon tote full of blue small styrofoam chunks and skinny rippings. o the construction trash went it to the curb.

Had a bunch of running to do so Sunday was a very short work day on the caboose.

Monday right after work I took the better part of an hour sorting thru the scrap foam pile here at work and fired up the big table saw to cut 40 - 45 sheets of 21 1/2" wide by 1" thick blue foam for the ceiling of the caboose. Loaded the truck bed full and cinched it all down for the 25 miles home.

After arriving at 5:30 in the almost darkness I see that the 40 MPH winds has managed to get under the rubber roof on the cupalo and depost one of the cinderblocks that was on the roof holding down a corner off the roof onto the ground. Didn't even look to see if the rubber roofing is ripped I just went inside the trailer and fired up the CD player and started stuffing more ,cut to fit, insulation sheets into the walls.

Tonight (TUES) , the new sheets I just cut are to be stuffed into the ceiling cavities.

I'm getting real tired of looking at blue foam :frightened:
Growing older but not up !

NOTHING!!! I can't do anything out in the garage. The animals were waiting for me at every door from the house when I went outside at 5:00 am. I bathed in "Bushmans" repellent and the animals loved it. I managed to grind off the two "chook droppings" from a couple of days ago but now it's impossible to do any work on anything outside in the garage/workshop. Cindy is managing to mow the grass with the ride-on and the animals aren't eating her at all. It must be the fumes of the exhaust and the continuous movement that keeps them away. Life here is less than miserable! The word is (local tv news) that the animals will be here for about 3 - 4 weeks more. My little girl (Kody) is never more than two feet away from me. The animals are driving her nuts.

Hi Steve
Doors are on Miss Piggy complete with door seals!
Figured out the speed control for my blower fan tonight and found a better blower motor in the barn.

Yes I will take some and download them tomorrow if I have time.
Did that car show once........last one in.... first one to leave...... spent most of the time there in the bar!
Don't do Car Shows....just Rod Runs.
Did enjoy the day trip over the Coq....but had to leave here early in the morning and raced the rain home.
But it was a fun ride in my 26 T roadster. Just a little cold at both ends of the day???
