1963 BeeLine Foamie Hybred

Last year for Christmas I got a "new" trailer to play with.
My wife got a puppy for her Christmas present

I then started on the "repair of the trailer"
The floor and walls were completely rotted away. What I really wanted was all the salvaged parts.

My Wife started training the puppy
She taught him to sit (on the couch)

After the salvage, this is some of what I ended up with

A pile of metal that I sold for almose as much as I paid for the trailer

A pile of scrap wood to be burned

This is why I bought the trailer, a good frame with electric brakes

This was the only broken window, the door window.

The black trim on the stove used to be chrome, but it was all rusty, I painted it with gloss engine paint.

I repaired the door window.

The frame was 7 feet wide X 16 feet long. I cut it down to 7 X 14

this is the frame painted (upside down)
I wanted to build the camper with 1/4 inch plywood on the inside, 2 X 2 uprights, 2 inches of insulation, then cover the whole thing with canvas.
That's why I called it a "Hybrid"

This is the floor, The drop section is the only place tall enough to stand up in (6 feet)

I glued the curved bracing off of the trailer for ease of handling

Until it is all assembled everything is a bit shakey

The sides starting to take shape. I used a minimal amount of upright bracing. The foam should give it the support it needs.

I did use more bracing at the front and rear curves to "convince" the plywood to stay where I wanted it.

I found this on CraigsList for $25

It worked fine, dual use, 110V or propane.

There are two beds with storage under them, a night table between the beds and an A/C under the night table

The exterior is foamed. after this picture, I used some (5 cans) spray foam to fill every crack. Now I get to sand the whole camper smooth.

I decided that the shop should be cleaned up a bit before I get into any sanding. Then we had a small snow blow into Indianapolis, I work with the snow plow crew for the city, so the camper has been sitting idle. Now there is a blizzard warning and snow predicted through the holidays. Perhaps I can work on sanding the trailer in January.

Unfortunately, as many of us have learned, life gets in the way of progress... Don't worry you'll get some time to work on it soon. As you figured out, there's always something that can worked on during the build. Just use the time you get wisely!
